| 2609 | The article gives a description and assessment of non-normative linguistic facts (misprints, typo errors, violations of the lexical rules) operating in the street space of Omsk and collected as part of a student project designed to improve the ecology of the city speech. On the basis of numerical calculations were obtained the data on three unstable sites of modern spelling rules. Revealed a wide range of blunders. It was concluded that the culture of street speech communication, which is media for the type of recipient, is being formed by native speakers with low literacy. Presented and commented on the results of the survey, the purpose of which was to study the perception of texts with a misprint, a typo error, a slang term by residents of Omsk and the Omsk region. Results of the survey show that norm violations were fixed by informants in proportion to the degree of how gross the mistakes are and give them the desire to correct the text. The latter point supports the position of the normative view of the language. | 2610 | Introduction. Valery Ronshin’s works belong to the phenomenon of the two-address literature, i.e. they are focused on children’s and adult audiences and contain considerable pedagogical potential by actualizing important moral and ethical problems for the education of teenagers and children. On the other hand, the simplified form of narration that does not require reader’s considerable intelligent efforts, as well as the use of devices of the popular literature show the author’s attempt to entertain, amuse the reader. The aim of the work is to analyse Ronshin’s “horror stories” and to prove that his works concern popular literature. Material and methods. The material of the research is the works by Ronshin written in the genre of “horror story” (by the author’s definition). In the paper, the methods of comparative and motive the analysis are used. As a theoretical base, the works of Russian literary critics were used: E. M. Meletinsky, M. A. Chernyak, O. N. Grechina, M. V. Osorina, E. A. Polevaya, A. I. Kulyapin. Results and discussion. Valery Ronshin uses images, motives, genres of traditional folklore (a horror story, a fairy tale, a joke, sadistic rhymes) that are familiar to each reader since childhood. In such a way, the author accomplishes, firstly, the effect of the recognition facilitating the reader perception of similar works, secondly, the task to entertain is realized. In spite of the fact that Ronshin’s books are focused on the children’s audience, which is shown by a colourful cover, illustrations in “naïve” or children’s style, the use of traditional children’s folklore genres, his works are addressed to the adult audience as they contain the elements of black humour, the comic devices that are aimed at adults (alogism, devices of discrepancy of the used means, discrepancies of hero’s behaviour to the circumstances, invectives), elements of physiologism. The central problem of the analyzed works is a pedagogical incapacity of parents, unreadiness to the dialogue with children. Conclusion. Valery Ronshin creates works actualizing important educational problems, uses formulas and devices of folklore genres with the purpose to amuse, entertain the reader. His stories should be attributed to the phenomenon of popular literature that inherently aimed at entertainment, escapism, the use of traditional plots and genres. | 2611 | Introduction. The study focuses on news discourse and on its persuasive dimension in particular. News discourse has a number of standard strategies to promote the persuasive process for assertions. If propositions are to be accepted as true or plausible, there must be special means to enhance their appearance of truth and plausibility. Material and methods. The theoretical perspective of the paper is the critical epistemic discourse analysis proposed by T. A. van Dijk. The paper considers mental representation of the event nominated in British and American mass media as RUSSIAN SPY POISONING. Results and discussion. The study highlights the evasion strategy as a form of discourse-based mental influence in news discourse. From a pragmatic approach evasion is viewed as violation of one of the conversational maxims formulated by P. Grice which requires contributions to conversations to be truthful. The author claims that the aim of the evasion strategy in representing news is to discursively emphasize those properties of mental models that are consistent with the interests of the dominant social groups and discursively deemphasize those properties that are inconsistent with their interests. Consequently, evasion strategy results in partial, incomplete or biased understanding of the news story in the interests of a dominant social group. Evasion presupposes formulation of meanings in such a way that they are not merely understood but also accepted as the truth or at least as a possible truth. The article discusses strategic devices of evasion like hedging, referential vagueness, focus shift, selective use of evidential and epistemic markers, half truth. Conclusion. The author comes to the conclusion that evasion strategy contributes to the formation or reactivation of preferred mental models and may thus be used in manipulative discourse use. Keywords: evasion strategy, news discourse, vagueness, hedging, foregrounding, focus shift, manipulation | 1990 | |||||
| 2612 | Introduction. The article discusses the figurative representations of the concepts of the heavenly bodies in the text and the artistic picture of the world of M. Bulgakov’s novel The Master and Margarita. The elements of the lexical structure of the text are analyzed, representing the images of the sun, the moon and the star, in terms of their linguistic semantics and cultural connotations associated with the mythopoetic symbolism of these space objects, as well as in the aspect of their participation in the expression of the author’s picture of the world. The purpose of the work is to explore the ways of representing the concepts of heavenly bodies (the sun, the moon and the stars) in the text of the novel The Master and Margarita, to identify aspects of their metaphorical and symbolic interpretation on the verbal and conceptual levels, to study the role of these concepts in the artistic picture of the world of the novel. Material and methods. The methodology of the work is based on cognitive, linguistic-cultural and system-structural approaches to the study of the imagery of language and artistic speech, used in the field of semantics of language units and text stylistics. The empirical material is represented by figurative words and expressions (200 units) representing the concepts of the Sun, the Moon, and the Star in M. Bulgakov’s novel The Master and Margarita, as well as fragments of text demonstrating their metaphorical functioning (850 contexts). As the sources for determining linguistic meanings and mythopoetic symbolism served the explanatory and encyclopedic dictionaries. Results and discussion. The lexical and textual fund of artistic representations of the concepts “Sun”, “Moon”, “Star” in the novel The Master and Margarita by M. Bulgakov is defined; methods and techniques of their textual implementation are revealed. The cultural and symbolic meanings of the concepts of the heavenly bodies, represented in the folk mythology of different cultures, are studied. The aspects of the metaphorical and symbolic interpretation of these concepts in the artistic picture of the world of the novel “The Master and Margarita”, as well as their role in the expression of the author’s intention, are described. Conclusion. The artistic model of the world in the novel The Master and Margarita represents a complex and multidimensional system of concepts, which in many respects comes close to folk mythology and religious cosmology. The most significant role in it is played by the images of the sun, the moon and the stars, by means of which the space-time continuum is modeled; the characteristics of the main characters, key characters and related events are expressed; the moral and philosophical content of the entire work is broadcast Keywords: concept, heavenly bodies, imaginative representations, M. | 2613 | A short story “Bobok” by F.M. Dostoevsky is regarded to be one of the most complicated works of the writer not only from the point of the number of issues being discussed, but also in terms of genre identification. The scholars believe that it is possible to consider the story as an example of the synthesis of genres. The purpose of the article is to reveal the peculiarities of the reception of “Bobok” in the USA by identifying the genre shifts in the English translation of the story. The material of the study is a short story “Bobok” and its English translation made by Boris L. Brazol in 1949. The original and translated texts are analyzed within the philological approach including the bases of comparative analysis. Additionally, the study uses the findings of Russian and foreign Dostoevsky scholars, as well as the works on genre theory, reception theory, and fiction translation. Compared to the original text, the English version of “Bobok” demonstrates formal and issue-related transformations that are primarily induced by the peculiarities of the literature in the USA in the middle of the 20th century: emergence of black humor as one of the most adequate forms of creative writings in the context of cultural crisis. The translator focuses on conveying those story’s features that coincide with the key characteristics of black humor genre, i.e. satirico-humorous effect, borderline condition of character, overlapping of reality and unreality. The complex narrative structure is not preserved; there is no iconic linkage in conveying the words that constitute the logical gradation and are directly connected with the main issues of the story. The absence of the complex structure of the story in the translation, including the ignorance of iconic linkage in conveying the key concepts of the original, blurs out the genre diversity of “Bobok” and results in issue-related transformations. The complicated story “Bobok” is perceived in English version as a black humor writing, which in its turn identifies the stage of “passive saturation” of American culture with such texts followed by the stage of blossom (“active transmission”) of black humor poetics in 1950–70th. | 2620 | The MSSM with right-handed neutrino supermultiplets, gauged B−L symmetry and a non-vanishing sneutrino expectation value is the minimal theory that spontaneously breaks R-parity and is consistent with the bounds on proton stability and lepton number violation. This minimal B − L MSSM can have a colored/charged LSP, of which a stop LSP is the most amenable to observation at the LHC. We study the R-parity violating decays of a stop LSP into a bottom quark and charged leptons – the dominant modes for a generic “admixture” stop. A numerical analysis of the relative branching ratios of these decay channels is given using a wide scan over the parameter space. The fact that R-parity is violated in this theory by a vacuum expectation value of a sneutrino links these branching ratios directly to the neutrino mass hierarchy. It is shown how a discovery of bottom-charged lepton events at the LHC can potentially determine whether the neutrino masses are in a normal or inverted hierarchy, as well as determining the θ23 neutrino mixing angle. Finally, present LHC bounds on these leptoquark signatures are used to put lower bounds on the stop mass. Keywords: neutrino mass, supermultiplets, vacuum expectation | 1989 | |||||
| 2621 | The article deals with one of the key trends in the study process at a technical university – a professional-focused direction in foreign languages teaching methods, the aim of which is to form a foreign language competence in the professional field. The authors consider the significance and multidimensionality of this problem in a technical university educational process, in particular, in training of correspondence students. The authors presume that professional-focused training can significantly enhance the motivation of the students to master a foreign language, since they realize the practical benefit of this knowledge for their future successful professional functioning. The experience of working with correspondence students at a technical university, monitoring their language needs, allows the authors to present a model of professional-focused English language teaching, the key characteristic of which is the creation of the actual teaching and methodological support of the discipline „Foreign Language“. The authors‘ opinion is that the actual content of the discipline will contribute to the realization of the language needs of the students and will help in their future professional activities. The authors generalize their experience of creation of the professional-focused textbooks in the English language which provide learning efficiency; note that texts material is related to the specifics of future professional activities; the semantic and linguistic availability of professional-focused texts is intended to form a system of concepts related to basic professional knowledge, to activate students’ cognitive activity. | 2630 | The epistolary forms which entered a context of “The Moscow magazine” and “The Bulletin of Europe” are considered as an embodiment of the concept of N. M. Karamzin – the publisher, as a reprezentant of his creative method. N. M. Karamzin actively develops poetics of the private, friendly letter in the journalistic and publishing practice, thus the poetics of epistolary publications in Karamzin magazines is conformable to poetics of his private letters. In magazines, also as well as in private letters, estimates and judgments of the publisher, his image itself organize reader’s perception, play a sample role, immerse in the Karamzin sphere of spiritual and intellectual aspirations. The letter as a plot forming element of Karamzin magazines allowed their publisher to come into direct contact with the reader, and “someone else’s” letters became remarks in the dialogue organized by the publisher, a reason for publishing reflections. The letter becomes an ideal form of creation of the addressee – the reader of the magazine as in it the behavioural standard is formed. Certain dynamics of epistolary poetics from “The Moscow magazine” to “the Bulletin of Europe” is noted. The conclusion is that the epistolary is the major esthetic category, it in many respects causes deep internal unity of editions of N. M. Karamzin. Keywords: epistolary form, magazine, N. M. | 2631 | Introduction. The article is devoted to the analysis of the associative potential of precedent texts in media discourse. The relevance of the analysis is due to the communicative-activity approach to the study of language, in line with which the precedent texts act as a means of communication of the author and the addressee, accumulating quantum of cultural information and stimulating the complex of associations in the mind of the addressee. The aim of the article is to precise the specificity of textual associations of precedent phrases in media discourse. Material and methods. The types of associative links of precedent texts are considered on the material of the texts of periodicals Komsomolskaya Pravda, Izvestia, Trud, as well as electronic information portals. The study was carried out in line with the associative course of the communicative stylistics of the text. Results and discussion. The analysis made it possible to reveal typical extralinguistic associations of precedent texts, among which are the name of the author, the title of the work, the name of the character. The associative field of the precedent text includes figurative, thematic, situational, cognitive associations, stimulated both by the precedent text itself and by the topic, the recipient text genre. The results of the study may be of interest in the implementation of such courses as Stylistics, Philological Analysis of the Text, Text Activity in Different Areas of Communication, etc. Conclusion. The analysis showed that the associative field, stimulated by the precedent text, contains a complex of linguistic and extralinguistic associations, which are important for understanding both the precedent utterance and the recipient text. The precedent text, as a rule, has associative support in the recipient text and is a means of organizing the cognitive activity of the reader. | 2632 | The article is devoted to the analysis of the associative-verbal field of the concept 人工智能 / artificial intelligence. The object of the study is the actualization of the concept 人工智能 / artificial intelligence in the consciousness of modern native Chinese speakers. The purpose of the study is to determine the key elements of the concept representation and model its associative-verbal field. The material of the study was the associates to the stimulus word 人工智能 / artificial intelligence, obtained as a result of a psycholinguistic experiment. The article uses the methods of free associative experiment, quantitative analysis, and classification technique. The study generalizes approaches to the concept 人工智能 / artificial intelligence and expands knowledge about its national and cultural features. The results of the study can be successfully applied in the process of teaching Russian and Chinese as foreign languages, in courses on psycholinguistics and cognitive lin-guistics, and also have practical value for all those interested in the culture of China. The associates obtained as a result of the free associative experiment are distributed among semantic modules based on the commonality of the features they express. Semantic modules, in turn, can include micromodules. The constructed model of the associative-verbal field of the concept under study includes the core, intermediate and peripheral layers, in which the most frequent reactions reflect a positive attitude towards the capabilities of artificial intelligence and represent the rapid pace of development, efficiency and continuous improvement of its technologies. As a result of the analysis of the model of the associative-verbal field of the concept 人工智能 / artificial intelligence, the structure of the meaning of this concept was revealed among representatives of various social groups, confirming their optimistic attitude towards the potential of artificial intelligence. The data of the associative experiment expand and complement the existing understanding of the representation of the concept 人工智能 / artificial intelligence in the mental lexicon of Chinese speakers; they must be taken into account when compiling explanatory dictionaries and dictionary entries.
