| 3205 | Introduction. The article presents the relevance of forming a meta-subject matter that is implemented on an intersubject content in the system of basic General education and is currently necessary for society in high-tech industries of any profile. The article shows the need for a modern school teacher of mathematics, physics and technology to develop competencies related to the basics of engineering, which are mandatory for graphic culture and graphic literacy. The purpose of research is to identify intersubject lines between mathematical, natural science and technical academic disciplines that contribute to the formation of students‘ competencies related to engineering, such as graphic culture and graphic literacy. Material and methods. The article is based on the authors generalization of the experience of teaching a number of engineering courses for future technology teachers directly related to their future professional activities. The analysis of normative documents on the research problem is carried out. Results and discussion. The analysis of normative documents regulating the educational process of future teachers of technology has shown that the content of the theoretical material, as well as the practical part of such fundamental disciplines as physics and mathematics, does not take into account the applied aspects of this direction of training students of pedagogical universities. In modern conditions of the introduction of specialized engineering classes in schools, in addition to the professional competence of the teacher, the teacher of mathematical, natural science and technological cycles of disciplines must have competencies related to engineering, such as graphic culture and graphic literacy. To form competencies related to graphic literacy, the module «Graphics / Engineering design» was introduced into the process of training technology teachers within the professional cycle as a discipline of choice, which included a block of such disciplines as drawing, engineering graphics, elements of analytical geometry, computer graphics. Thus, it became possible to create inter-subject lines between the academic disciplines of mathematical, natural science and technological cycles of disciplines, which in turn will further form the meta-subject of the entire educational process of future technology teachers. Conclusion. The formed meta-subject of the educational environment for students of pedagogical University studying in the direction of training 44.03.01 Pedagogical education, directions (profiles) of mathematics, physics, technology will allow teachers to consistently form and develop spatial thinking, imagination, creative abilities, observation of students necessary in their further professional activities. | 3218 | The article examines the issue of reception and comprehension of Italian nature in the journey diaries and letters of S. P. Shevyrev, the author belonging to the group of the Lubomudry. Italy was an important part of Shevyrev’s life and creativity, therefore it became a particular imagological phenomenon in his texts. As a significant component of the image of Italy, nature expresses some features of the country in general and interacts with other aspects of its image: historical, aesthetical (for example, Italian literature and pictorial art), social ones. From the point of view of the Russian traveler, the national character of the Italians (their sincere belief in God, sense of beauty, carelessness) depends on the soft climate and picturesque landscapes. Texts created by Vergil, Petrarch, Tasso, Ariosto reflect Italian nature, and images of these authors are tied with it in Shevyrev’s creativity. Nature was highly important for the intensive development of Italy in the Roman Empire and the Renaissance epochs, which is obvious in Shevyrev’s diaries and letters. Besides, Italian nature (images of the Vesuvius, the island Ischia, the sea, etc.) is associated with ontological senses and remains the ideal of beauty and harmony. In Shevyrev’s diaries and letters, traditional romantic interpretation of Italy as of a cultural myth, an earthly paradise coexists with individual comprehension and philosophical accents. These features correspond to the specificity of the cultural dialogue between Russia and Italy in the creativity of the Lubomudry. | 3219 | The paper is devoted to the analysis of the linguo-cognitive and cultural characteristics of the opposition representation “intelligence-silliness” on the basis of the Russian and English folk tales. The underlying premises worked out in the framework of the linguistic conceptology serve as the theoretical foundation of the research. The linguistic conceptology is viewed as a branch of modern cognitive linguistics and it often focuses on the comparative analysis of these or those concepts. Folk talk as a genre reflects the reality and interprets it from a certain perspective. Moreover, folk tale can be considered as an axiogenic event which in its turn functions as a kind of an axiogenic situation. The opposition “intelligence-silliness” is analysed from the point of view of lexical explication, gender peculiarities and social status of the tales’ heroes. The conclusion is made that the English and Russian languages differ in terms of estimating and presenting intelligent and silly people. But at the same time intelligence in both linguo-cultures is associated with mental power, common sense, experience. Silliness always means lack of innate intelligence, wit and is even equal to greediness and laziness. The perspectives of the study are outlined. The representation of the opposition “intelligence- silliness” may be studied in the common language consciousness. | 3232 | Despite the disposition of the theater of the absurd for linguistic minimalism, the plays of the British theater of the absurd possess a great phonographic potential due to the generic features of the dramatic text. The article explains the paradoxical ability of the dramatic text to transfer performer’s phonostylistic means through the author’s remarks, special syntactic constructions and graphic tools. The identified phonostylistic and graphic means in the absurdist plays by Samuel Beckett, Harold Pinter and Tom Stoppard do not only help to convey the authors’ ideas, but also conform to the philosophy of the absurd. The most represented means is the instrumentation based on different sound repetitions (alliteration, consonance, rhyme) with the use of sound symbolism. The phonographic analysis of the texts also revealed some cases of onomatopoeia and paronomasia. Rhythm has a special stylistic meaning in the drama. It is inherent in both theatrical actions and speech, which is reflected in the dramatic text. The article considers the ways of creating a specific slow, monotonous rhythm peculiar to the theater of the absurd with its idea of cyclical existence. The described examples confirm the stylistic markedness of the plays of the theater of the absurd which can be an object of further research in linguistics and stylistics. | 3233 | The article is devoted to the investigation of ways of representing in English one of the basic universal conceptual categories – the category of graduality. The main aim is to determine specific features of lexicographic description of lexical units that express graduality implicitly in English dictionaries. Modern paradigm of linguistic knowledge – cognitive linguistics – gave an opportunity to look at a number of problems from a new angle, in particular at the formation of the category of graduality and its linguistic representation. Within the framework of cognitive linguistics graduality is rightly viewed as a concept expressed in the language by a category of graduality that includes in the first place quality adjectives because only they can denote some feature that can manifest itself in a higher or lower degr ee and as a result have gradable meanings. The article gives a short survey of present-day opinions on lexical units that express features of objects and new ways of their structural presentation, in particular opinions of leading Russian and foreign linguists – E. S. Kubryakova, N. N. Boldyrev, E. G. Beliaevskaya, L. Talmy. The investigation was carried out on the material of 533 adjectives selected from several authoritative dictionaries of the English language. The author describes the procedure of the conceptual analysis of some frequently used English quality adjectives that have an indication of graduality in their meanings. In the course of the analysis the author makes some conclusions concerning the conceptual structure of English quality adjectives representing graduality implicitly, singles out concepts that serve as a basis for the semantics of the adjectives under analysis and dwells on the peculiarities of their lexicographic description and that of relative adjectives used in their quality meanings. The study shows that the conceptual structure underlying the semantics of English adjectives representing graduality implicitly includes two concepts – “feature” and “feature degree”. The first one has a different semantic representation depending on the meaning of the adjective while the other one expresses the same feature degree in all the meanings (very high, high, low). The research is interesting for further analysis as not only the issue of lexicographic presentation of graduality is of great interest today but also the issue of new approaches and methods of studying graduality, the status of units functioning as means of expressing graduality and some others. All these issues need further investigation on the material of different languages.
