Nikolaeva O.V., Yakovleva E.A. CHINESE PAROEMIAS IN MASS MEDIA OF THE RUSSIAN FAR EAST: COGNITIVE AND PRAGMATIC ASPECTS // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 8 (197). P. 21-27

The article deals with the analysis of Chinese proverbs and sayings found in the periodicals of the Russian Far East. Geopolitical location of the Russian Far East and recent growth of trans-border contacts with neighboring Asian countries make considerable influence on people’s minds and people’s perception of life. This makes the research timely and appropriate. Methodology of the research is based on the interdisciplinary approach to the analysis of ethnic proverbs and sayings which circulate in a different culture or a different language. The authors provide cross-cultural analysis of Chinese proverbs and the ways of their presentation in the Russian mass media. The pragmatics of citation of a Chinese proverb/saying in the Russian discourse proved to be determined by intelligibility of the proverb/saying to Russian readers. In some cases authentic ethnic imagery of the Chinese proverb/saying is pragmatically preserved. It makes reference to the wisdom of the Chinese ancient civilization more evident, and serves as an effective way of reasoning in a newspaper article. Special attention is drawn to cultural factors influencing the form and the semantics of Chinese proverbs in the Russian discourse. Parables and myths which stand behind almost all Chinese proverbs and sayings are lost in the Russian discourse, and Chinese proverbs are sometimes substituted with a Russian analogue. The authors of the article describe functions and pragmatics of Chinese proverb usage in a new cultural environment. In mass media of the Russian Far East Chinese proverbs realize a wide range of functions, among which the most relevant are informative, argumentative, phatic and appellative functions. Implementation of the above mentioned functions depends on cross-cultural pragmatics.

Stepanova E.S. LINGUOCOGNITIVE PECULIARITIES OF THE SCIENTIFIC AND POPULAR MEDICAL DISCOURSE // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 4 (201). P. 95-101

The aim of the research is the description of the cognitive and discursive space of the scientific and popular medical discourse, which is represented by phenomenological cognitive structures and linguistic cognitive structures. It provides the differentiation of the notions “scientific medical discourse” and “scientific and popular medical discourse”. The scientific and popular medical discourse is one of the types of the scientific discourse. Material and methods. The methodology of the research is based on the cognitive approach to the phenomenon, its actualization in the discourse proposed by Victoria V. Krasnykh. She states that knowledge and representations are preserved in cognitive structures. The research methods are cultural analysis and descriptive-analytical contextual method. Results and discussion. The results of the research show linguistic means that represent phenomenological cognitive structures that are typical for the cognitive and discursive space of the scientific and popular medical discourse. Extralinguistic factors influence the discourse. In case of the scientific and popular medical discourse the sphere of doctor-patient communication serves as an extralinguistic factor. The scientific and popular medical discourse has the characteristics of the scientific medical discourse (representatives of which are doctors) and the naïve medical discourse (representatives of which are patients). The strategies that are typical for different types of discourse intersect in the scientific and popular medical discourse. Conclusion. The theoretical significance of the research lies in the fact that results of the research contribute to cognitive linguistics on the questions concerning the study of the scientific and popular medical discourse. The results expand the basis of study of semantics of the scientific and popular medical discourse, means of realization of phenomenological cognitive structures. The suggested typology can be used for the analysis of other types of discourse. The practical significance lies in the fact that the typology of phenomenological cognitive structures characterizes the cognitive and discursive space of the scientific and popular medical discourse. The author of the scientific and popular medical discourse uses linguistic means taking into consideration linguocultural experience of a linguistic personality. It helps to view the ordinary phenomenon from the unusual perspective. The article presents the examples of realization of phenomenological cognitive structures that reflect cultural views of the society. Phenomenological cognitive structures represent cultural values in the transformed way.

Kurkan N.V., Fadeyeva N.V., Mishankina N.A. DISCOURSIVE SPECIFICITY OF ENGINEERING COMMUNICATION IN THE RUSSIAN SOCIO-CULTURAL SPACE // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2020. Issue 2 (208). P. 92-102

The article discusses the communication specifics of engineering society in relation to the scientific discourse. It also studies the special features of the agent in the engineering communication as one of the key areas of modern life which provides the technological progress of industry as well as the research potential for education. The rise of the engineering professional society was due to the introduction and development of industry as a social force. 19th century introduced the position of the engineer which was strengthened in 20th century in the same way as the corporate societies of other specialists had been developed before. However, the corporate engineering society has not been studied yet either with the reflection of the professional image nor in the communication aspect. There are just few studies which consider the engineering communication as the texts of scientific and technical style but not as an independent object to be studied. The studies in the cognitive and discursive linguistics made the methodological basis of this paper including discourse analysis, scientific discourse studies, the research in functional linguistics and genre studies, the professional language and communication and the concept structure as well. The results were obtained by techniques of discourse analysis, textual, definition and component analysis as well as the qualitative evaluation of the associative dictionary data, the corpora analysis and the analysis of the search engine data. The materials included the encyclopaedia data, dictionaries, Russian National corpora, a body of technical standards. The paper solves the following issues: the boundaries of engineering communication as a certain discourse area, the description of key institutional parameters, the boundaries of engineering discourse against the scientific discourse: purpose, participants, the genre structure. Also, the key agent of the engineering communication was defined: the boundaries of the engineer concept, at which core the image of a specialist with a university degree is. The engineering definition is updated due to the complication and recent development of the engineering activity. The professional communication in engineering sphere traditionally regarded by Russian linguists as a part of the scientific discourse was identified as a separate institutional discourse based on certain compositionally crucial parameters.

Microbial communities in virgin and reclaimed fens of Tomsk region were examined in the comparative study. Differences between these peat lands could be found only for a dry season. A number of fungi, evaluated with the plating method, and a share of hydrolytic bacteria were considerably higher in the reclaimed fen. It indicates to the intensification of destruction due to the implemented agricultural afforestation. The differences between fens smooth after long-term rains: fungal and actinomycetal mycelium is fragmentary found in soil layers, number and specific diversity of micromycetes decrease, hydrobionts dominate among bacteria. Thus, though examined fens are hydromorphic soils, weather conditions should be taken into account for soil sampling, because all the microbiologic indicators, which allow characterizing microbial communities of peat soils, sharply vary under the change of dry and moist periods.

Sapukh T.V. “EDUTAINMENT” TECHNOLOGY IN THE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT OF THE UNIVERSITY // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2016. Issue 8 (173). P. 30-34

The term “edutainment” is formed from two English words: “entertainment” and “education” and combines entertainment and learning. We understand edutainment as a special education technology, viewed as a complex of modern technical and didactic means of teaching, based on the concept of learning through entertainment. The main difference between edutainment and the modern paradigm of learning is that the subject is actively involved in the educational process. As a result of interaction between an informative and entertaining object and active in learning subject we obtain knowledge, abilities, skills, individual experience, subjective emotions. Edutainment technology tasks have to meet three pedagogical principles: the principle of theory with practice linking, the principle of consistency and the principle of accessibility. Edutainment technology has great potential in the organization of the learning process at the University. It is necessary to maintain a reasonable balance between education and entertainment. Tasks created to promote the interest, need to be balanced with activities to improve intelligence.

Liu W. INTERPRETING TRAINING IN CHINA AT THE PRESENT STAGE // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2022. Issue 4 (222). P. 155-167

Introduction. The purpose of the article is the analysis of training translators and interpreters, as well as entrance tests of the master’s interpreting programs in China. As the result of the comprehensive cooperation between China and the whole world, within the Belt and Road Initiative, the demand for multilingual communication specialists, who can provide translation between Chinese and other languages of the world has become obvious. In this regard, the urgency of training translators as well as interpreters has increased with a new force. Aim and objectives. The article is giving description as well as comparative analysis of entrance tests, training programs and the main language combinations, finding the ways of optimizing the training of translators, interpreters, at the same time improving the relevant educational programs in China. Material and methods. The research material was the scientific works of Russian and Chinese researchers on translation studies and simultaneous interpreting, as well as electronic resources, official documents of the official websites of Chinese universities. The study uses the method of comparative analysis to clearly show the situation of the development of training translators and interpreters in China at the present stage. Results and discussion. In recent years, specialized programs have been developed at master’s level for training translators and interpreters – MTI. Here we are going to talk about the interpreting training programs in Chinese schools, which play an important role in the process of rigorous selection of candidates on the basis of competition. This selection has led to the need for more detailed study of master’s interpreting programs in Chinese universities. This article provides a cross-section of the current situation about training interpreters, overviewing training interpreters in some Chinese leading universities and institutes, giving the description and comparative analysis of entrance tests, training programs and the main language combinations, in which training is implemented. In other words, training translators and interpreters in China at the present stage is characterized by rapid development, not so rich teaching experience, official support and centralized planning of the nation. In this case, the entrance tests of the MTI (Master of Translation and Interpreting) program in Chinese universities are generally divided into two stages: a written exam (ideological and political theory and specialized disciplines), and an oral exam. In this case, Chinese universities check the competencies as well as skills of applicants and decide their specific directions in the specialty after admission to the master’s degree. Conclusion. MTI and BTI programs are rapidly developing at the national level in China. Currently, many universities are training interpreters. In the leading educational institutions of the country, such as Beijing University of Foreign Languages, Shanghai International Studies University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, etc., perfect training programs have already been formed: undergraduate and graduate students receive professional education in the theory and practice of interpreting. Based on extensive data on the frequency of combinations in master’s programs in interpreting and translation, it can be confirmed that English is a universal language, and the status of the Russian language still needs to be improved.

It was studied effect of activation of M-opioid receptor (OR) on the tolerance of isolated perfused rat heart to global 45 min ischemia and 30 min reperfusion. In vivo pretpeatment with selective M-opioid receptor agonist DAMGO (0,1mg/kg intravenously) increased tolerance of isolated perfused rat heart to ischemia and reperfusion. This effect was completely abolished by pretreatment with the M-antagonist CTAP. Addition of DAMGO and DALDA to the perfusion solution in a final concentration of 170 nМ before ischemia had no cardioprotective effect. However, addition of DALDA to the perfusion solution in a final concentration of 33 nM also decreased creatine kinase levels in the coronary sinus effluent.
