| 3306 | The authors studied the species composition of the trees of the mixed birch and pine forests of Tomsk State Pedagogical University (TSPU) practice base in the village of Kireevsk Kozhevnikovsky district of Tomsk region. As of 2014 defined taxonomic and chorological composition of plants, installed the types of life forms of trees according to ecological and morphological classification and position and method of regeneration buds. In the study area, there are 22 species of trees belonging to 17 genera and 11 families. The department Gymnospermae is represented by 1 family, 4 genera and 4 species, department Angiospermae – 10 families, 14 genera and 18 species. The prevalence of mental disorders among persons aged 60 years, on average, is higher than in the general population. Universally accepted definition of mental aging is considered as a process of age-related changes of higher mental functions, characterizing the final period of human life. With age, there are significant structural and functional changes in the body naturally, having individual differences, in turn changing the mark on the functioning of the individual. Age factors impose a significant imprint on the occurrence, dynamics and correction of neurotic disorders. Non-psychotic mental disorders in elderly age have their specifics differ from those occurring in other age periods and therefore require a different approach to therapy. | 3308 | Studying at the higher school requires a certain level of readiness to integrate into university community. Disability to meet the challenges they face may become demotivating factor, impede their progress in academia and lead to subsequent departure. The core idea of the article is promoting well-being-oriented education programme for first-year students’ personal self-change. The study identifies the possible roots of the student’s subjective response to their failure within the academic environment. The article provides a description of the issues relevant to both teachers’ and students’ areas of responsibility, that make influence on the success of integration into academic community. Grounded on a set of subject-field factors, a survey was set for the first-year students of different fields of study (n = 511). This method was aimed to reveal the level of students’ perception of their transition and introduction to academic community. The follow-on purpose was to encourage self-awareness of teachers and students. Analysis of the survey data indicates the venues of instructional practices enhancement, strategies for adjustment issues optimization in terms of personality and cognitive development. A good move to actualize the process of students self-improvement is orientation program geared towards event-directed approach. Empiric evidence can possibly be addressed during new student orientation programme development, facilitate a solution to the problem of impersonality in the educational process in higher school. | 3309 | The paper focuses on the images of Anglo-Saxon queens in the works of biographers and church writers of the 8th – 9th century England. Based on Asser’s Life of King Alfred, Life of St Wilfred of York and Ecclesiastical history of the English people it is shown that historical portraits of Anglo-Saxon rulers’ wives have their specificity depending on the genre, the author’s objectives and attitudes to women in power. Early Anglo-Saxon queens enjoyed high social status, participated in worldly and church affairs. Precedents of rivalry between queens and people within the king’s circle are discussed. Tradition and personal support of the king are identified as the sources of queen’s power. Queens influenced the rulers’ policy by means of their council, that Christian writers associated with the Fall. Not coincidentally, in the early Anglo-Saxon narrative evil queens always use their husbands, intriguing against nobles and hierarchs. Nevertheless, both secular and clerical attitudes to queens’ power were rather complex. On the one hand, their political activity caused concern. On the other, queens patronizing the Church were held in high esteem by ecclesiastical authors. Downgrading of the king’s wife’s position in the 9th century Wessex should be considered a matter of historical accident rather than conformity to historical patterns. | 3310 | The article deals with the question of representation of the interdiscourse category in the scientific medical discourse. It provides the differentiation of the notions “intertextuality” and “interdiscursivity” and gives parameters of their differentiation. In case of intertextuality the sings are linguistic units that indicate the interaction between texts, in case of interdiscursivity the indications are the elements of conceptual and linguistic plan of the discourse. The article shows the interaction between intertextuality and interdiscursivity in the scientific medical discourse. Intertextuality depends on interdiscursivity and marks it with the help of different linguistic means. In the scientific medical discourse marked and unmarked forms represent interdiscursive connections. The article presents the examples of realization of interdiscursive connections in the scientific medical discourse. It concludes that interdiscursivity in the scientific medical discourse is a cognitive and a discursive phenomenon. The cognitive side of interdiscursivity reflects the possibility to gain and organize medical knowledge; the discursive one is connected with the extension of knowledge in the text that allows considering the acquired knowledge and experience. The category of interdiscourse is actualized by the inclusion of fragments of knowledge in this type of text that have textual and nontextual etymology and which relate to other discourses. Considering the problems with graphical training and formation of graphical culture of secondary school students is timely and relevant due to reducing the number of teaching hours devoted to the study of graphic disciplines. In this regard, to search for new opportunities and develop educational-methodical support for improving the quality of graphics education of students in high school is of high interest now. The aim of this study is to identify the general level of students’ graphical culture, importance of the graphical training course in the secondary school, as well as to identify ways and means to enhance the graphic education of the students. Material and methods. Research materials, used in this study, are the data collected from the literature on graphic culture and graphical preparation of students, and education process in secondary school. In this study we used general scientific analysis methods: synthesis, comparison, surveillance and questioning, interrogating and performing graphic assignments by the students. Results and discussion. We defined the term “graphic culture” in the context of this study, determined the structural components of graphic culture, the stages of graphic education of high school students, examined the ways and means of improving the quality of graphic preparation, in particular, by studying the “Technology” course. We have provided detailed information on pedagogical and psychological counseling and the implementation of graphic assignments by students. Conclusion. We have proposed the following strategies for better accumulation of graphic knowledge and skills during secondary school studying. First, to use the structural-logical schema when studying different subjects. Second, to include the graphic disciplines to the list of complementary courses, elective courses, and as additional education of secondary school students. Third, to pay a special attention to graphic education at the classes on technology, purposefully forming students’ knowledge and skills in reading and making of drawings, sketches, diagrams, as well as of a general aesthetic perception of the objects of surrounding world. When this formalism is applied to the Hilbert Lagrangian we obtain a covariant definition of the Hamiltonian (and consequently a definition of the Energy) for a gravitational system The definition of the variation of Energy depends on boundary conditions one imposes. Different boundary conditions are introduced to define different energies: the gravitational heat (corresponding to Neumann boundary conditions) and the Brown-York quasilocal energy (corresponding to Dirichlet boundary conditions) for a gravitational system. An analogy between the behavior of a gravitational system and a macroscopical thermodynamics system naturally arises and relates control modes for the thermodynamical system with boundary conditions for the gravitational system. This geometrical and covariant framework enables one to define entropy of gravitational systems, wnich results to be a geometric quantity with well-defined cohomological properties arising from the obstruction to foliate spacetimes into spacelike hypersurfaces. This definition of gravitational entropy turns out to be very general: it can be generalized to causal horizons and multiple-horizon spacetimes and applied to define entropy for more exotic singular solutions of Einstein field equations. | 3329 | Despite the disposition of the theater of the absurd for linguistic minimalism, the plays of the British theater of the absurd possess a great phonographic potential due to the generic features of the dramatic text. The article explains the paradoxical ability of the dramatic text to transfer performer’s phonostylistic means through the author’s remarks, special syntactic constructions and graphic tools. The identified phonostylistic and graphic means in the absurdist plays by Samuel Beckett, Harold Pinter and Tom Stoppard do not only help to convey the authors’ ideas, but also conform to the philosophy of the absurd. The most represented means is the instrumentation based on different sound repetitions (alliteration, consonance, rhyme) with the use of sound symbolism. The phonographic analysis of the texts also revealed some cases of onomatopoeia and paronomasia. Rhythm has a special stylistic meaning in the drama. It is inherent in both theatrical actions and speech, which is reflected in the dramatic text. The article considers the ways of creating a specific slow, monotonous rhythm peculiar to the theater of the absurd with its idea of cyclical existence. The described examples confirm the stylistic markedness of the plays of the theater of the absurd which can be an object of further research in linguistics and stylistics. | 3330 | Introduction. This article carries out the analysis of the ways the stylistic convergence is rendered from Russian into English. The phenomenon of convergence has been thoroughly studied neither by the stylistics as far as its speech implementation is concerned, nor by the theory of translation taking into account all the semantic, stylistic and pragmatic information expressed by the author by means of convergence that needs to be rendered in translation. Quite often, scientific research studies the problem of transferring a particular stylistic device rather than their converged group which obviously complicates the translator’s work. The problem thus stated is aimed at revealing the most effective translation strategy for rendering the stylistic convergence in the target text. Aim and objectives. The aim of the article is to single out and analyze the ways the convergence of stylistic means is rendered from the source language into the target language maintaining its pragmatic function. Material and methods. The material for the study is the novel “Anna Karenina“ by L. Tolstoy and its translation in English by Margaret Wettlin published by Progress Publishers in 1978. The object of the research is convergence of stylistic means, the subject is the ways of its transference from Russian into English. The basis of the methodology lies in the scientific and linguistic methods including the descriptive and comparative ones. Results and discussion. The research has shown that the complete transference of the convergence is rather rare due to the lexical and structural peculiarities of the two languages. Having analyzed 70 text units we have come to the conclusion that 24 % of them are those in which the stylistic convergence is preserved in the target text. The stylistic convergence is rendered by substituting or adding some of its components in 12 % and 17 % of units respectively. The most frequent (47 %) are the cases when some of the converged stylistic means of the source text are omitted in translation. As for the pragmatic functions of the stylistic convergence, they are in most cases retained in the target text enhancing or, on the contrary, weakening the stylistic effect of the original text. Conclusion. The article gives a short historical overview of studying stylistic convergence and covers its main interpretations. The analysis of the research material includes the study of stylistic means that form the stylistic convergence in the literary text, the comparative analysis of the text units containing the stylistic convergence both in the source text and in the target text. We revealed the most frequent ways of rendering the stylistic convergence from Russian into English. In addition, we analyzed the pragmatic functions of the stylistic convergence as well as the ways they can be retained in translation. | 3344 | The article discusses the problems of the development of one of the essential objects of the urban environment of Tomsk at the beginning of the 20th century - bathhouse facilities. This topic has not been the subject of special scientific research yet. Bath as an urban infrastructure element was a popular public institution where people could perform not only hygiene, but also relax, spend free time, communicate with other people. Analyses the existing сentral and local legislation regarding the construction and maintenance of the municipal baths, rules of their functioning in accordance with sanitary requirements, describes the real sanitary condition of the Tomsk baths and its causes. Provides the characteristics of public, room and family baths, their similarities and differences in the quantity and quality of services provided. It is concluded that there is insufficient number of baths to meet the basic needs of residents in maintaining personal hygiene. Shows the role of the urban sanitary commissions in the implementation of sanitary monitoring of bathing establishments, maintenance of cleanliness and disinfection in them. Attention is focused on such problems of Tomsk bath economy, as lacking of sewerage, water supply (up to 1905-1908), poor ventilation device, closets and pits for water drainage, irregular disinfection, presence of parasites (lice, worms) and high probability of contracting infectious, skin, venereal and other diseases.
