Tchernyavskaya Y.O. THE PECULIARITY OF THE CHARACTER SYSTEM IN L. GORALIK’S CYCLE ABOUT VENISANA // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2022. Issue 3 (221). P. 142-150

Introduction. In the analyzed cycle, L. Goralik actualizes complex problems of modern children’s literature, among which the following can be distinguished: the problem of the relationship of generations (“fathers and children”), the attitude to death, the understanding of one’s own identity, ways of knowing the surrounding world. The purpose of the work is to characterize the system of characters in L. Goralik’s cycle about Venisan. Material and methods. The works of Russian structuralists, folklorists, and mythologists were used in the work. Results and discussion. The cycle about Venisan presents a rather complex and diverse system of characters, among which one can distinguish heroes-helpers, pests, mythological characters. Pests, like assistants, serve the purpose of plot development, helping the main character to go beyond the usual existence. Mythological characters contribute to the development of the inner world of the heroine, i.e. they largely determine the inner plot of the main character’s growing up. Conclusion. The cycle about Venisan can be attributed to the fantasy tradition, however, attention to the complex inner world of a child trying to survive in a terrible world complicates the problems of the work. L. Goralik uses mythological images to create the inner world of a girl who intuitively tries to figure out the ontological problems of life and death, the meaning of her existence. If in fantasy literature for this purpose there were heroes-helpers (sages) who give answers to difficult questions, then Agatha finds herself face to face with a hostile and complex world order in which communication with adults only complicates the situation: adults demand help (mother), make them suffer (father), threaten life (smugglers, “merry men”, etc.).In an unhealthy and hostile atmosphere, children try to come up with their own explanation of what is happening (rumors, scary stories), learn to mimic (invent a secret language). Agatha, unlike most children, develops the ability to intuitively comprehend the truth about the world through mythological images that appear to her in dreams, memories, sensations.

Chukavina A.G. Metaphors “solitude is death” and “solitude is desert” and methods of their translation into Russian in the translation of the novel by G. G. Marquez “One Hundred Years of Solitude” // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 6 (236). P. 46-55

The ways of conveying metaphors of two directions are analyzed: loneliness – death and loneliness – desert. The conducted research made it possible to reveal the main part of the metaphorical layer of the concept of “loneliness” in the original novel and to identify the features of its formation. Consideration of the transformations used in the transfer of metaphorical content made it possible to reveal the features of this concept in the translation version. The purpose of the article is to analyze the ways of conveying the expression of the metaphorical content of the concept of “loneliness” in the Russian translation of the novel by G. G. Marquez “One Hundred Years of Solitude”, performed by M. I. Bylinkina. The novelty is determined by the fact that in the stated aspect the text of the novel was not considered and the results of the analysis will contribute to a comprehensive, complete study of the novel, including in the aspect of translation studies. The material for the analysis is the original text of the novel by G. G. Marquez in Spanish and the text of his translation by M. I. Bylinkina. Metaphors included in the concept of “loneliness” and methods of their translation into Russian are analyzed. The descriptive method and the method of comparative analysis, the method of metaphorical modeling are used. The statistics of the used translation transformations were revealed: contextual replacement – 15, generalization – 13, specification – 5, replacement of parts of speech – 8, replacement of sentence members – 6, replacement of word forms – 4, literal translation – 3 uses. The translator most often uses the technique of contextual substitution, transforming a metaphor or part of it into a lexeme with a different semantics. The technique of generalization contributes to changing the periphery of the concept, expanding its meaning, which leads to semantic blurriness. Frequent use of the technique of concretization (narrowing of meaning) leads to the conclusion that in translation the image of loneliness is expressed to a lesser extent, due to the choice of lexemes with a less negative connotation and others with a narrower meaning. The desert is characterized through a desert of disappointment and oblivion; deserted streets, deserted ruins, a desert of mirages, a desert of loneliness, love, glory. Death – through mourning, desolation, cessation of communication, unbearable loneliness, oblivion, lack of response, immersion in loneliness, abandonment, melancholy, cyclicality and inseparability of death and loneliness, an endless labyrinth of loneliness, widowhood without death, damnation, isolation.

Keywords: conceptual metaphor, literary concept, concept of loneliness, metaphorical means of concept modeling, concept translation

Ilakavichus M.R. SELF-EDUCATION IN THE SPACE OF ADULTS EDUCATION: RESOURCES AND DEFICIENCY // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2022. Issue 5 (223). P. 76-84

Introduction. Self-education is for an adult a skill necessary for a full-fledged life in conditions of constant uncertainty. This type of activity is inextricably linked with the subject position, the author’s attitude to his education and life in general. The stage-by-stage formation of subjectness includes the school and university period, the further construction of an individual educational path depends on the formed readiness for self-education, the availability of relevant experience. Support in the development of self-education skills can be obtained in formal education, in non-formal education communities, as well as in educational informational resources. These practices of these types of continuing education constitute the space of adult education that implements the variability of support. The aim of the research is to analyze the resources available in the space of adult education to support the development of self-education skills, as well as deficits in this area. Material and methods. The material was the theoretical sources and practices of teaching self-education and the development of the ability of self-education, interviews with part-time adjuncts of St. Petersburg University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. Results and discussion. The topic of teaching self-educational activity has been sufficiently studied. In the Soviet period, the methods and techniques of appropriate teaching during the school period were described. Currently, secondary education solves the problem by engaging children in research activities, so it leads to the progress of personalized education development. However, progress on this issue remains unsatisfactory. The preparation of teachers for self-educational activity is problematized, because without such skills, it is impossible to organize the development of students. In organizations of higher education, the revealed underdevelopment of self-educational activity can be compensated by appropriate programs of psychological and pedagogical support. Teachers need special pedagogical skills. In the field of non-formal education, an adult has the opportunity to develop the ability of self-education by joining self-organizing communities when the need arises to renew knowledge. However, the intensity of his life activity often prevents this. The resource of informal education (educational content) is not quite relevant. Live offline interaction with a mentor, consultant, a strategy for quick support of the resumption of educational activities are in demand. The aspect of psychological support is important. Conclusion. The problem of developing the ability to self-educate adults is seen as being solved by implementing the trinity of formal, non-formal and informal types of lifelong education as a structure that reveals options for eliminating the deficit of knowledge and skills: from practice-oriented modules in educational programs of formal education, mutual learning in self-organizing communities of non-formal education before navigating informal sources.

Speshilova E.I. HOMO LUDENS: THE EXISTENTIAL PROJECT // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2015. Issue 5 (158). P. 177-181

In the article a play as existential strategy is researched. The correlation of the concepts of “play” and “person” in the anthropological tradition of existential and personalistic philosophy is analyzed. It is noted, that postmodern man exists in the absence of clear existential orientations without having the “right” model of behavior. The main and, perhaps, the only way of orientation in existence for such a person is situational, gaming response to reality. The author argues the thesis that the adoption of the game for the ontological principle of orientation in reality is contrary to the notion of personal existence in the strict sense.

Koshechko A.N. DIRECTIONS OF EDUCATION OF VALUE STRUCTURE OF DAILY AND EXISTENTIAL CONSCIOUSNESS OF F. M. DOSTOYEVSKY // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 11 (188). P. 194-202

The article presents the analysis of the initial stage of the formation of existential consciousness of Dostoyevsky. The family sphere finds orientation of parents of the writer to values of traditional family and patriarchal model of education. Orientation to traditional values in Dostoyevsky’ family is implemented at the level of the principles of interpersonal interaction (monogamy, possession of many children, respect and esteem for seniors) and priorities in upbringing of children (reliance on education and diligence, schooling to truth, decency, responsibility, love for the country and national culture). The research of the facts of Dostoyevsky’s childhood allows to allocate three interconnected directions of education of the valuable sphere of his daily and existential consciousness: emotional, semantic, religious. United in a single fundamental event by the fate of the writer, they serve as peculiar symptoms of awareness of the existence by Dostoyevsky the child, bound indissolubly to light and a word as in the ways of perceiving being and self-realization of oneself in it. Of particular importance in this process – in addition to family reading and lessons in the Law of God, pilgrimage trips to the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra – is training in boarding schools, the first experience of Dostoevsky’s clash with the outside world, the shock of meeting with his own self, an independent attempt to realize “non-alibi in being” through the acquisition of the ability to speak on its own behalf. During this period reading becomes a way of formation of a semantic resource of his personality, a way of a seclusion and reflection in boarding house. Understanding of himself in life, procedurally mastered in the childhood, forms the the value-semantic sphere of daily and existential consciousness of Dostoyevsky and is implemented in text activity. Experience of own childhood as a moral guideline will become for the writer a criterion of differentiation “before” and “now”, “family” and “casual family” as different spiritual and moral ways of existence. Systematic destruction of the spiritual bases of family, neglect to the performance of parental and filial responsibilities, education of cynicism, indifference, denial leads to loss of sense of existence. Semantic capacity of the image of family and behavioural family tradition are the basis for formation of the image of the world in Dostoyevsky’s “Writer`s diary” and novels of the Great Pentateuch. From the idea of family as a phenomenon of the Russian life a positive program of overcoming spiritual crisis of mankind is built in his works.

Mel’nikova G.T. N. F. PAVLOV’S NOVEL “SCIMITAR” IN THE HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXT // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2021. Issue 6 (218). P. 112-120

Introduction. The author seems it relevant to appeal to the works of Nikolai Filippovich Pavlov, who left a significant impact on the Russian literature of the first half of the XIX century. He, being one of the first, raised the topic of social injustice and inhumanity of public orders. Though, the readers and critics of the 30s of the XIX century highly appreciated Pavlov’s works, the name of the author of the collections “Three Stories” and “New Stories” had become already among the “forgotten” by the end of the century. The scientists of Romanticism still mention N. Pavlov as a writer whose works were of a transitional nature and note his “movement” from romanticism to realism. Aim and objectives. The aim of the article is to analyze the ideological and thematic originality of Pavlov’s story “Scimitar” from the point of view of reflecting the social and cultural realities of Russia of the first third of the XIX century. Material and methods. The author examines Pavlov’s novel “Scimitar” included in the first collection of prose “Three Stories”, which became a triumph in the social and literary life of Russia of the 1830s. The author uses biographical, historical, cultural and comparative methods of research. Results and discussion. In the story “Scimitar” the author creates a true picture of the social relations and mores of the Russian society of the first third of the XIX century: he presents the social hierarchy, a special attitude to the military men and service, and the dueling tradition. The dramatic circumstances in which the main character finds himself reflect the moral and social problem of injustice, army brutality, escalating during the reign of Nicholas I. At the beginning of the story, the main character, undertaking the first steps in life, is full of enthusiasm for the future romantic dreams, which the reality subsequently cruelly destroys. The motif of doom refers to the image of the scimitar. The “bad” omen coming from folk mythology becomes prophetic, while the mother’s gift symbolically results in the hero’s death. Conclusion. In the romantic novel “Scimitar”, Pavlov artistically describes social relations and cultural traditions of the Russia of the first half of the XIX century. The themes of corporal punishment and social injustice in the army, which were topical for the 1830s, are reflected in the realistic literature of the early twentieth century.

Tokarev G.V. Reflection of personality self-identification process by the standards of Russian linguoculture // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 6 (236). P. 26-35

The article is devoted to determining the peculiarities of self-identification, i.e. self-understanding, by the standards of the Russian linguoculture. To achieve the goal, the author uses onomasiological, component, conceptual analysis, linguocultural interpretation techniques. A standard is a sign of culture, expressing in verbal form stereotypical ideas about the typical features and qualities of a person. Standards have been proved to be the main means for selfidentification of the subject of culture. They objectify various aspects of a person’s inner world, his/her appearance, social interaction. The article establishes that a standard is an element of people’s identity, the result of the identification process, which is accompanied by the characterization of the subject of culture. These processes are embodied in the internal form of the standard, which is considered as a verbal stereotype reflecting the prototypical representation of the denoted phenomenon. The article reveals that all major cultural codes are involved in the formation of standards. The study identifies productive cultural codes that are used in the identification process. They include anthropomorphic, biomorphic, actional. The standards are represented by the units identifying a person as a kind and on certain aspects of his/her life activity. The formation of standards is carried out on the basis of linguocultural types, archetypal representations or practical human observations of reality phenomena. One verbal stereotype can be the basis of different standards. A standard can fix a deviation from the norm, indicating the norm for good or bad. The majority of standards are characterized by pejorative evaluativeness. The research discovers that the standards of anthropomorphic code of culture serve to objectify ideas about types of people oriented towards the inner world or material values. Anthropomorphic stereotypes pointing to social attributes identify features of a person in the context of social relations. Biomorphic stereotypes are based on archetypal knowledge or practical observations. The majority of units of this group record a deviation from the norm or pattern and include a negative evaluation in their meaning, which is explained by the interpretation of the animal as an ersatz human being. Units with positive evaluation dominate among the standards with the image “Bird”. Verbal stereotypes of plants are unproductive and are used mainly to objectify negative aspects. In fetish standards, value and functional characteristics of the object, as well as feelings from contact with it, become significant. Human standards formed on the basis of actional attributes embody ideas about the behavioural norms accepted in the Russian culture. The standards of the animic code reflect the immersion of a person in the context of nature, the feeling of being a part of it.

Salamaykina E.N. THE VERB 'WISSEN' IN THE COGNITIVE ASPECT IN THE MODERN GERMAN LANGUAGE // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2016. Issue 2 (167). P. 20-24

Discusses the specificity of functions of the verb 'wissen' as a connotative predicate in phraseological units in the modern German language. Such constructions with 'wissen' express modal meanings (sureness, supposition, indifference, positive evaluation, negative evaluation, contradiction etc.) that are derived on the base of denotative meanings of its components as well as by certain Grammar characteristics of the constructions and depending of the context in which they are used. Such meanings are considered as derivative (precedent) meanings. Due to these meanings connotative predicates can express emotions, make an evaluation, express agreement or disagreement, draw attention and have an interactive function.

Zakharova E.O., Asthana S. Lexical and semantic features of multicomponent terms in physics (on the basis of English-language scientific publications devoted to dark matter) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 6 (236). P. 83-92

Modern research sets a new paradigm for the linguistic description of terms as units of special nomination. The emphasis is on the study of dynamic processes covering terminological systems of different subject areas, identifying qualitative changes in the ways of representing domain-specific knowledge. The current paper seeks to identify some specific features of the terminological lexicon of Physics within the framework of an actively developing area of physical research related to the problem of dark matter. The relative novelty of this area, its interdisciplinary and rapidly developing nature result in the complication of its conceptual structure, give rise to certain changes in the formal and semantic representation of special concepts. The focus of this study is on the analytical units of special nomination – multicomponent terms notable for specific combinatorics and semantics of individual components. The study is aimed to identify the lexical and semantic features of this type of terms, determined by linguistic and extralinguistic factors. The collection of lexical material for analysis was carried out not on the basis of dictionaries, as is traditionally the case, but on the basis of English-language publications devoted to dark matter search from highranking scientific journals for 2014 to 2024 years. While randomly selecting the items for analysis the following features of the terminological combinations were taken into account: the ways of their representation in scientific texts (variability of form), the semantic specifics of their individual components. The sample of terms comprises 223 units. The research is based on the method of linguistic description, represented by such techniques as observation and generalization, systematization, quantitative counting, component and semantic analysis. On the basis of the data provided by the study it appeared possible to identify some features of multicomponent terms of the “dark matter” thematic sphere: variability of form of the same concepts represented within the context of one article and in other publications; hybridization of form (combination of verbal components with abbreviations and special symbols); complication of the semantic capacity of terminological combinations due to eponymous and metaphorical components; susceptibility to such semantic processes as synonymy and antonymy. The practical and theoretical significance of the study may consist in the possibility of using theresults obtained to develop the theory of crosscultural scientific communication, to determine patterns for compiling specialized dictionaries and glossaries of physical terms, to design and deliver courses in language for specific purposes, and courses in specialized translation.

The introduction of this technique to the educational process requires the appropriate training and support on the part of foreign language teachers. It is necessary to consider both the psychological and communicative training of students. The basis for formation of the professional foreign language competence is formed during the basic training of a foreign language. The next step is the transition from general technical texts to special ones. It is important to complicate the teaching material gradually, use a variety of sources in order to give students the opportunity of finding some familiar elements in each following task. This will help them understand the text and remove the possible psychological and communicative problems.

Peresada O.V., Korepina N.A. SEMANTICS OF REFLEXIVE DENOMINATIVE VERBS IN THE DIALECTS IN THE ASPECT OF THE THEORY OF PROPOSITIONS // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 9 (206). P. 101-110

The article presents a fragment of the analysis of the semantics of reflexive denominative dialect verbs in order to study the pragmatic aspects of the linguistic meaning. The scientists opinions about the concept of reflexivity, the classification of reflexive verbs are presented. The place of the analyzed verbs among different classes of reflexive verbs is described. It is determined that the reflexive verbs belong to the group of the deponent verbs. The semantic diversity of the postfix -sja (-ся) is identified. The reflexive morpheme has not only grammatical meanings, it necessarily performs the word-formation function and participates in the creation of a set of units with a new lexical meaning. The classification of the ways of word formation of reflexive dialect verbs is carried out in accordance with such a classification of common Russian verbs. Most of the dialect verbs do not have common meanings, but individual ones. The cognitive models characterizing the kinds of actions represented by denominative reflexive verbs are defined. The examples of the verb propositions are given. It is established that the characterizing reflexive verbs can be mono- and polypropositional structures. It turned out that these denominations can be represented by the denominative verbs indicating a subject, object and propositions. This is due to the types of situations reflected: characteristics of internal and external qualities of a person and human relationships. Most polypropositional denominations appeared on the basis of metaphors. Many structures of metaphorical verbs include the Mode of the fictitious nature and the assessment Mode, expressing the attitude of the Speaker towards the signified. The fictitious and evaluative modality can be complicated by emotive modality – disapproval, neglect. The resulting expression is purely word-formational in its nature. The use of complex methods of the formation (suffixal-postfixal; prefixsuffixal- postfixal) for many characterizing verbs is one of the means of expression creation. The reflexive postfix of the denominative verbs does not perform its function of the actant derivation indicator. The postfix -sja does not mark the actant derivation, but the number of participants, the degree of agentivity and other parameters of the situation. In some cases, the choice of a reflexive / non-reflexive variant of the denominative verb to denote the characterizing name is not always explainable.
