Analyzed lasting, historical problematical formation of national identity in Germany, the stages of its formation and their main features.Particular attention is paid to the analysis of foreign statistics of the European Commission (Eurobarometer), which show the complexity of the processes of formation of the double identity of the German population on a timely point in history (1990–2014). | 2610 | The article deals with the problem of the specific character of the translator’s knowledge of language and culture. A review of the relevant literature has shown that translation is a unique mode of language use which is significantly different from ordinary communication in a foreign language. The author introduces the concept of “problem awareness” as one of the key characteristics of the translator’s lingua-cultural knowledge. Problem awareness is essential in translation which involves switching between languages. It is understood as the awareness of the linguistic factors causing breakdowns in code-switching in translation, as well as the ability to deal with such problems. These linguistic factors include idioms and proverbs/sayings, translator’s false friends, culture-specific concepts, geographical names and confusing words similar in form, meaning or use. Each linguistic factor is described and its ability to interfere with the process of code-switching is explained. Based on these facts a list of relevant skills and psychological characteristics is presented for each group of linguistic means. The author then provides guidelines for ensuring a targeted approach to the teaching of the above-mentioned linguistic means. Lexical regulatory universal is considered in comparison with other notions of communicative stylistics: communicative universals, media communicative universals, cognitive style. | 2626 | Introduction. The article discusses the figurative representations of the concepts of the heavenly bodies in the text and the artistic picture of the world of M. Bulgakov’s novel The Master and Margarita. The elements of the lexical structure of the text are analyzed, representing the images of the sun, the moon and the star, in terms of their linguistic semantics and cultural connotations associated with the mythopoetic symbolism of these space objects, as well as in the aspect of their participation in the expression of the author’s picture of the world. The purpose of the work is to explore the ways of representing the concepts of heavenly bodies (the sun, the moon and the stars) in the text of the novel The Master and Margarita, to identify aspects of their metaphorical and symbolic interpretation on the verbal and conceptual levels, to study the role of these concepts in the artistic picture of the world of the novel. Material and methods. The methodology of the work is based on cognitive, linguistic-cultural and system-structural approaches to the study of the imagery of language and artistic speech, used in the field of semantics of language units and text stylistics. The empirical material is represented by figurative words and expressions (200 units) representing the concepts of the Sun, the Moon, and the Star in M. Bulgakov’s novel The Master and Margarita, as well as fragments of text demonstrating their metaphorical functioning (850 contexts). As the sources for determining linguistic meanings and mythopoetic symbolism served the explanatory and encyclopedic dictionaries. Results and discussion. The lexical and textual fund of artistic representations of the concepts “Sun”, “Moon”, “Star” in the novel The Master and Margarita by M. Bulgakov is defined; methods and techniques of their textual implementation are revealed. The cultural and symbolic meanings of the concepts of the heavenly bodies, represented in the folk mythology of different cultures, are studied. The aspects of the metaphorical and symbolic interpretation of these concepts in the artistic picture of the world of the novel “The Master and Margarita”, as well as their role in the expression of the author’s intention, are described. Conclusion. The artistic model of the world in the novel The Master and Margarita represents a complex and multidimensional system of concepts, which in many respects comes close to folk mythology and religious cosmology. The «text-centered» approach in teaching language is concretized. The skills of text activity are among the main indicators of the general culture of a language personality. Different ways of working with the text at the stage of preparation for the unified state exam in the Russian language and in the process of teaching essay are described. The results of experimental work on teaching essay in high school are presented. Practical recommendations for the analysis of essays are given. It is emphasized that the practice of teaching essays can be an alternative to the system of preparation for part C of the unified state examination in the Russian language, and also to significantly diversify the activity of the teacher-grammarian in developing communicative skills of students. The literary examples are chosen to prepare students for the unified state examination essay and to teach essays. The conclusion is that the work on the text contributes to the formation of language, linguistic and communicative competence, provides an organic unity with the knowledge of the system, the structure and development of speech. | 2643 | Introduction. This article reconstructs the subjective semantics of the “guilt” lexeme based on the results of associative experiments with young Russian native speakers. Aim and objectives. The aim of this research is to find out what components of meanings are associated with a given lexeme in the language consciousness of a modern young person and which of these components are prevalent. Material and methods. In order to achieve this goal, free associative experiments were conducted among the student audience. The results of these experiments were compared with the data of the Russian Associative Dictionary, which made it possible to trace the changes in the language consciousness over the past few decades in dynamics. Results and discussion. In explanatory dictionaries, guilt is defined solely as a fact of misconduct, crime, or the cause of something unfavorable. However, the analysis of the associative fields obtained as a result of free associative experiments indicates a discrepancy between the lexicographic interpretation of guilt and the complex of meanings that is reflected in the language consciousness of a young Russian native speaker. Much more significant for the recipients is the psychological aspect of the studied semantic area: they define guilt, first of all, as an individual’s feeling, directly related to his conscience and causing a whole range of negative emotions. In addition, guilt is associated with the sphere of social and legal relations, that is the sphere that is regulated by law or other legal norms. Conclusion. Compared to 1980–1990 there have been significant changes in the language consciousness of young Russian native speakers. The number of legal responses to the “guilt” incentive has increased, which may indicate an increase in the level of legal literacy. However, the most significant for the recipients were the emotional and sensory characteristics of guilt, as well as the contexts in which this semantic area enters: both in relations between people and in the moral and moral self-assessment of the individual. | 2644 | The purpose of the article is to analyze the specifics of the representation of the family value dominants existing in Russian culture, presented in the textbooks on Russian as a foreign language by Russian and foreign authors. The material of the study are textbooks on Russian as a foreign language by Russian, Chinese and English-speaking authors written in the period from 2007–2018, with a total volume of more than 3,100 pages. We selected dialogues and narrative texts related to the topic of “family” from these materials using a continuous sampling method, allowing to analyze axiological dominants and linguistic means of their expression in various family aspects. The analysis of the obtained data was carried out using the methods of contextual analysis, lexical and semantic as well as comparative analysis. Family is one of the main value dominants for the Russian people. In textbooks on Russian as a foreign language, Russian authors mainly use positive value judgments, neutral or negative value judgments are used rarely. Chinese authors of the textbooks on the Russian language broadcast mainly a positive assessment of the family institute. English-speaking authors prefer neutral connotations. Individual parameters are also evaluated in different ways. In relationship between spouses, Russian authors often promote husband’s authority. Considering family responsibilities, household management is assigned exclusively to a woman, while work is typical for both men and women. Foreign authors mainly present in their textbooks a model of joint household management; husband’s authority in their works is not mentioned. Children are the dominant value in most cultures, however, it was found that when referring to children, Chinese authors use exclusively neutral vocabulary, while Russian and English-speaking authors prefer emotional expressions (mostly positive, less often negative). When describing the relationship to older relatives (especially grandmothers), Russian authors use value judgments that are of an exceptionally positive nature. In contrast, Chinese authors use a neutral assessment of grandparents. English-speaking authors in their works do not describe the relationships between children and grandparents. Among Russian and foreign authors there is also a variability in the specifics of describing the relationship between parents and their children. Unlike English-speaking authors, who do not focus on the mutual relationship of children and parents and use mostly neutral vocabulary when describing this value category, Russian and Chinese authors emphasize respect for parents and mutual concern. The analysis showed, that despite the general ideas about good and approved that exist in different cultures, the authors of the textbooks on the Russian language implicitly represent the value orientations inherent in their culture. The specificity is determined not only by the differences in the choice of certain lexical groups, but also in the subconscious emphasis on values that are significant for the culture of the authors of the materials.
