Xie S. Verbs of auditory perception in autobiographical prose (based on work of Irina Odoevtseva “On the banks of the Neva”) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 1 (231). P. 33-40

Perceptive vocabulary holds a special place in autobiographical text, as it is through this that the author conveys their memories and impressions of the events described. The lexicon of auditory perception in autobiographical works allows for an expanded understanding of the specifics of perceptive lexical representations in literary works. The lexicon of auditory perception is examined through the proposition of perception, the basis of which consists of predicates expressed by verbs. The purpose of the article is to analyze the semantics and functioning of auditory perception vocabulary in autobiographical text. The material is presented in the form of 189 statements from Irina Odoevtseva’s work “On the Banks of the Neva,” containing verbal lexemes with the semantics of auditory perception. The primary method used is the scientific description method, implemented through techniques of contextual analysis, as well as observation, comparison, analysis, synthesis, and generalization. It has been determined that verbs of auditory perception perform various roles in the semantic organization of statements. Verbs with the semantics of active and passive auditory perception of both subjective and objective orientation have been examined. The conclusion is made that in the work “On the Banks of the Neva,” there are more verbs of active perception than passive. This is related to the specifics of the work – in this way, the author conveys their eagerness to hear and perceive as much audible information as possible (listening to poems, reports, lectures, and discussions), to transmit the atmosphere of that time period, of which they were a witness. I. V. Odoevtseva indirectly reveals the character, worldview, inner state of the characters, and the nuances of human relationships through statements with the meaning of auditory perception. Perception, as part of memory, conveys what the author and other characters of the work saw and heard in the past. Moreover, the lexicon of auditory perception deepens the understanding of the work and takes the reader back to the time remembered by the author, immersing them in the autobiographical discourse. As a result of the analysis, it has been determined that verbs with the semantics of auditory perception perform the function of recreating memories in autobiographical text.

Yumashev V.V., Khatyamova M.A. Premonition of the Civil War in the journalism of L. Andreev // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 1 (231). P. 123-131

The comprehension of the lessons and consequences of the Civil War in Russia is under the close attention of historians and philosophers; numerous works of fiction by writers of different ideological and aesthetic ideas are devoted to the national catastrophe in the fate of the country. Despite the fact that the journalism of the Civil War is huge, a special and less researched layer in it consists of articles and egodocuments of writers. The subject of this research is L. Andreev’s comprehension of the most important events – the revolutions of 1917 and the Civil War in Russia. The writer’s journalistic articles published in the Socialist-Revolutionary newspaper “Russian Will” (1917–1919) make it possible to trace the evolution of his perception of key events in the history of Russia of the twentieth century. In the articles of the first half of 1917, L. Andreev is inspired by the events of the February Revolution and seeks to convey this state to readers. With the change in the political situation in Russia by the middle of 1917, the tone of the writer’s articles also changed. Andreev fears the possible death of Russia due to a change in the vector of development of the revolution, so he resorts in his articles to the struggle of the word – beliefs, appeals and slogans to encourage his readers to continue the struggle for the freedom of the country. The death of the writer in 1919, when the Civil War was already underway on the territory of Russia, but was of a local nature, and the main events of 1919–1920 were still ahead, allows us to speak only about the writer’s foresight of the future tragedy in the history of the country. However, the evolution of the views of Leonid Andreev, an authoritative writer who became a symbol of the 1905 revolution, will be close to many representatives of the creative and scientific intelligentsia in Russia. As the study showed, in their articles of 1917–1919 Andreev foresaw and emotionally and passionately sought to prevent the onset of fratricidal war.

Butakova L.O. Speech genre of autobiography as a discourse practice (based on the text by V. Ya. Bulokhov) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 3 (233). P. 65-73

The concept of discursive practice as a method of socially oriented speech activity is effective for describing the processes of creation and results (speech works, texts) of an individual linguistic personality who carries out his professional activities in communications of various types, genres, targeted orientation, etc. Certain texts of such a personality can be considered a kind of discursive practice (on the basis of social orientation, implementation of a set of speech genres, manifestations of the subjective principle, expressiveness/non-expression of address focus, thematic and semantic organization, cognitive dominant, etc.). The purpose of the article is to identify discursive parameters related to the thematic, cognitive, communicative embodiment of the linguistic personality of the author (philologist), methods of transmitting information, organizing communication with the addressee in artistic and journalistic speech activity of an autobiographical orientation. Analysis of the text of the memoir type “Autobiography” (written by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Krasnoyarsk philologist V. Ya. Bulokhov) revealed ways of realizing the author’s linguistic personality at the structural, thematic, communicative cognitive levels of the organization of artistic and journalistic discourse, as well as features of discursive practice through the use of social regulations and personal type. Regulators draw the addressee’s attention to the connection of the reported information with the social context of a “broad” or “narrow” type, the interaction of chronotopes “there and then”, “here and now”, “while the prognostic now”. The use of analysis of the thematic and structural organization of the text, identification of modes of communication, their alternation, features of updating the cognitive composition using means of transmitting information at the semantic, pragmatic levels made it possible to establish leading speech strategies that mark the autobiographical discursive practice of a linguistic personality, whose speech activity is characterized by lexical, syntactic, communicative, pragma-style variability, diversity of spatio-temporal and egocentric deictic components of discursive practices of text-forming means.

Zakharova V.A., Bezukladnikov K.E., Peradze M.B. Individualized interaction in the process of primary school student`s functional literacy formation // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 5 (229). P. 34-41

Functional literacy formation is a new educational result of Primary education, fixed in the federal state educational standard (new edition). Functional literacy is based on subject and meta-subject results. Basis for achieving subject and meta-subject results is shaped in 1–4 grades. Therefore, the relationship between a functional literacy formation process and a subject and a meta-subject results achievement is a relevant problem. Research group of the Perm State Humanitarian Pedagogical University identified meta–subject co-ordination and interdisciplinary integration as conceptual foundations for the functional literacy formation at a primary school. Extracurricular activities provide time resources for meta-subject coordination and inter-subject integration. Functional literacy formation at the primary school can be considered a result of students’ proximal development zone since functional literacy has traditionally been studied as an educational result of adults and youth. Consequently, primary school students’ functional literacy formation is possible if it is based on an individualized teacher and students’ interaction in actual and proximal development zones. The individualized interaction acquires significance in inclusive classes for mental retardation children and children without developmental disorders. The fact that the same action methods correspond to students without developmental disorders actual development zone and mental retardation students’ proximal development zone specifies this kind of training. The purpose of the research is to work out theoretical grounds, to develop an extracurricular activities program, to study materials for the course, and to conduct an experimental verification based on the studied difficulties in mastering the primary general education program by mental retardation children and children without developmental disorders. The research contributes to the relationship development between general and inclusive education. The research specifies an individualized interaction technology between a teacher and students in the areas of actual and proximal development. The effectiveness of this technology has been proven. The practical significance of the research lies in the fact that the developed course and a set of study materials for it can be used in other educational organizations that implement primary general education programs.

Yadrennikova S.V. ORGANIZATION OF WORK WITH THE INFORMATION ARRAY IN HISTORICAL AND PEDAGOGICAL RESEARCH // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2022. Issue 5 (223). P. 85-94

Introduction. The Scientific Union of Cybernetics and the History of Pedagogics makes it possible to develop an information model within which data collection and processing methods can be improved. In the context of the study of didactic terminology, the practical application of the information model is expressed through the organization of work with a frequency dictionary (information array) formed based on an analysis of historical and pedagogical sources. The aim is to organize work with an information array in order to conduct a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the terms of the nuclear zone of the conceptual and terminological field of domestic didactic terminology of the 20–30s. XX century. Material and Methods. The analysis of historical and pedagogical sources was carried out on the basis of an integrated approach, in which the field approach occupied a key place. This approach involves considering the structure of terminology as a set of conceptual and terminological fields. The information array of the study was formed on the basis of a contextual analysis of normative legal acts and texts of leading reformer teachers of the 20s and 30s. 20th century (P. P. Blonsky, A. G. Kalashnikov, N. K. Krupskaya. A. P. Pinkevich, S. T. Shatsky). The systematization and processing of the data of the information array is organized on the basis of the use of content analysis and statistical and mathematical research methods. Results and discussion. A corpus of texts has been formed, consisting of 177 historical and pedagogical sources. An information array has been collected, including 1181 lexical units. The systematization of data is organized on the basis of the belonging of the text to a group of sources, taking into account the authorship and the period of publication (1917–1928) or (1929–1937). At the stage of statistical data processing for working with the 1C: Enterprise platform, an auxiliary script was developed that determines the types of lexical units in accordance with a given algorithm. The characterization of the nuclear zone of the conceptual and terminological field of didactics was made through a structural and meaningful analysis of the terms “education”, “training”, “polytechnism”, “labor” and “school”. Conclusion. The use of software, methods of statistical and mathematical data processing in the historical and pedagogical research implies a more productive analysis of information. The information array (frequency dictionary) formed within the framework of this study; the possibilities of digital processing allow organizing new areas of scientific work with historical and pedagogical sources.

Rodnova M.A. Quiz show as a hybrid genre of media discourse // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 4 (228). P. 110-118

Nowadays the line between the mediagenres has become increasingly blurred. For this reason genre hybridity is an important and relevant feature of media texts. This paper focuses on description of the features of the genre structure of TV quiz show, which determine genre hybridization. The major objective of this study is to investigate types of hybridity. The research material is outlets of the Russian quiz shows “Clever girls and clever boys” and “What? Where? When?” on Channel One. We consider TV quiz show speech genre as communicative event intellectual game realization. Hence, we draw on Borisova I. N. communicative event conception and linguopragmatic method. According to linguopragmatic method, within the scope of our discussion are the communicative situations of the game, corresponding to its stages, and the role relations of communication partners, including situational-role variation of speech. The results indicate that quiz show is a very clear example of hybrid media genre. Quiz show has such types of hybridization as genre, discursive, polycode and polytext hybridity. Genre hybridity is due to hypergenre nature of quiz show which implies the inclusion of a number of subgenres in its structure. Discursive hybridity is a result of the combination of sports, judicial, didactic and entertainment discourse. Polytext hybridity is the combination of precedent texts and the use of stylization. Polycode hybridity is characterized with the interaction of various sign systems. In summary, hybridization of quiz show determines manifestations of new genre features, such as a trend towards symmetry of communication and intimization; tendencies to role variation of the television anchorman’s speech; trends towards polylogue use; stylization trends. The scientific novelty of the research is putting to use the new notion “discursive hybridity”.

Matyushina N.V. Relevant domestic concepts’ methodology // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 3 (227). P. 15-23

The paper follows the ongoing discussion on conceptualization methodology that was initiated by I. Levontina on the pages of Topics in the Study of Language in 2008. The author reviewed the first volume of Anthology of Concepts, I. Sternin and V. Karasik continued the debate in the second part of the conceptuary. The paper presents scientometric analysis of up-to-date linguistic works dedicated to various conceptualization aspects. Investigations in the context of leading linguistic schools, as well as psycholinguistic researches and studies within Moscow semantic school were analyzed. All theses on concepts in between 2012.01-2022.04 were taken from the official cite of HAC. Moreover, monographs and contributions from the database of RSCI were studied. The main body of this part consisted of the works published within the last ten years. Still some earlier researches were also engaged to show the whole picture. Special attention was paid to the methodology and material of the selected works. The obtained results show that 2/5 authors support I. Levontina’s proposal on how to investigate concepts. That suggested approach was elaborated within Moscow Semantic School, namely by Yu. D. Apresyan. Only 10% of researches are based on lexicographic sources, the rest rely on corpora, native speakers’ survey, field studies, etc. A quarter of theses’ authors applied various experimental techniques. Povinich A.Y. FORMATION OF COMPETENCIES OF YOUNG RESEARCHERS TO WORK WITH FOREIGN DATABASES // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2022. Issue 2 (220). P. 86-95

Introduction. The Russian scientific community is faced with the task of integrating domestic research into the global publication space. Today in Russia the culture of using foreign databases is at the stage of formation, while abroad it is at a fairly high level. With the expansion of the globalization of socio-economic processes, possession of over-professional skills in working with the Web of Science and Scopus databases becomes a necessary condition for Russian science to enter the world scientific space. Therefore, an integral part of the system of measures aimed at improving the indicators of Russian science in international citation indices should be training activities for working with foreign information resources. One of the important educational problems is the lack of training of young researchers to work with foreign databases. Consequently, in the context of globalization and digitalization, specially organized educational support for young researchers in working with foreign information resources is needed. The support of researchers should be aimed at the formation of over-professional skills in working with Web of Science, Scopus and their analytical tools, the formation of “scientometric literacy”. The aim is to substantiate the effectiveness of the model of organizational and methodological support for the entry of young researchers into the global publication space. Material and methods. Theoretical – abstraction, analysis, specification, generalization; empirical – included observation, questionnaire, survey, reflective interview, experiment, focus group. Results and discussion. The structure of competencies of young researchers for working with foreign databases Scopus, Web of Science and the analytical tool SciVal has been developed, including motivational, cognitive, behavioral and reflective-evaluative components. A model of organizational and methodological support for the entry of young researchers into the global publication space was created to form these competencies. The proposed model of support was tested in Tomsk Polytechnic University. Conclusion. The diagnostic results showed that the model of organizational and methodological support for the entry of young researchers into the global publication space contributes to the formation of over-professional skills of working with foreign databases and their analytical tools, the formation of “scientometric literacy” of students, graduate students and young scientists.

Yermolenkina L.I. DYNAMIC STRUCTURE OF RADIO AS A MARKER OF ITS TEXTUALITY AND SEMIOTIC INTEGRITY // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2020. Issue 4 (210). P. 110-116

Introduction. The relevance of studying the textual parameters of radio text is determined by a new form of its functioning – the convergence of audio, graphic, verbal and action codes in the discursive space of the Internet. The processes of technological integration of radio and the Internet are influenced by socio-economic changes associated with the understanding of “journalism as a service”, providing two-way communication with the recipient – the consumer of a variety of program and application services. First of all, the recipient receives the status of an active agent of discursive practice and the subject of interactive content that manages the relationships between his and other texts on the network. Material and methods. The semiotic characteristics of radio text are considered, which ensure its coherent integrity at the recipient level. As the main feature, a temporal rhythmic organization is singled out, which differently specifies the radio text of analog broadcasting and network. Based on the semiotic theory of the text, the integral significance of the tempo-rhythmic structure of radio text for both forms of broadcasting is proved. Results and discussion. It seems that the process of generating text in these conditions should be considered from the point of view of the category of textuality. As an integral textual characteristic, significant for the qualification of the radial product of analogue (auditory) and convergent radio, the temporality is considered. The semiotic potential of the rhythm is realized in organizing the attention of the listener and the user of the network version of the radio. The paper considers the specifics of the implementation of the temporal structure in analogue and convergent broadcasting, draws conclusions about its conceptual significance for the formation of the axiological picture of the world of discourse. The dynamic structure of the rate of analog (audio) radio text is manifested at the paraverbal level of its organization, in those super-phrasal connections that allow you to connect the scattered attention of the addressee to certain fragments of the speech stream, keywords, images and emotions. The temporal rhythmic mechanism for activating attention in convergent broadcasting implements the promotional code for the interaction of the recipient, an interactive user, who displays the activity of choosing entertainment products and involvement in its consumption necessary for discursive practice. Conclusion. An analysis of the radio text of various technological nature allows us to talk about the parameters of text formation relevant for a media text characterized by semiotic hybridity, genre polymorphism and the specific role of the addressee involved in the generation of text content.

Avchinnikova S.O. Information and analytical approach to the design of educational content in the system of scientific and methodological support for class teachers // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 2 (232). P. 64-72

By order of the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia, which coordinates the work of a unified federal system of scientific and methodological support for teachers and management personnel, we developed information and analytical materials on the problem of psychological and pedagogical interaction between teachers and families of pupils as the basis for the content of educational programs. The aim was to generalize the experience of developing information and analytical materials and substantiate the information and analytical approach to the design of educational content in the system of scientific and methodological support for class teachers. When implementing the information-analytical approach, we used the following methods: information diagnostics of the array; implementation of bibliographic procedures; highlighting the list of keywords and types of scientific and methodological developments; compilation of information maps, taking into account the list of keywords and types of scientific and methodological developments; cataloging scientific and methodological developments. As a result of information and analytical work, the bibliographic list on the topic “Effective technologies of psychological and pedagogical interaction with the student’s family” includes 302 sources that meet the criteria of relevance, importance of information, completeness of information, complexity and, in aggregate, highlight the stated problem both in terms of theoretical analysis, description technological approaches, and in a practice-oriented way, reflecting the best pedagogical experience. According to the results of an expert assessment, the annotated catalog includes 127 sources. The catalog is intended for placement in an electronic environment. The catalog contains the name of the development, keywords, type of development, annotation, information about the source, access to the development. The abstract reflects the most significant information contained in the source, gives a recommendation regarding the use of the development in the design of programs of additional professional education. The abstract can be considered as an independent piece of educational content. As a result of the study, we found that the information-analytical approach allows presenting the most valuable and relevant information in the form of ready-made developments, indicating their appropriate use in the system of scientific and pedagogical support for class teachers, which makes the design of educational content more technologically advanced and meaningfully balanced. The theoretical significance of the study is the integration into the theory and technology of additional professional pedagogical education of a new way of developing educational content based on the use of an annotated thematic catalog. The practical significance of the work lies in the creation of an independent information resource – an annotated catalog on the topic “Modern technologies for the interaction of the class teacher with the family of students” and the possibility of its use for designing programs for teachers’ additional professional education, in university practice in the preparation of pedagogical and psychological-pedagogical specialists, as well as for self-education of class teachers and their quick search for professionally significant information.

Savina I.S. Development of critical thinking by means of visualization of grammatical material in the process of learning Russian as a foreign language // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 5 (235). P. 138-146

In connection with the transition to new educational standards, there is a search for effective teaching methods and techniques that form a number of competencies necessary for professional activities. Representatives of different countries receive education in Russian higher educational institutions, for whom education begins with the study of the Russian language, therefore this discipline can be considered the basis for the development of competencies outlined in the Federal State Educational Standard. An analysis of normative documentation organizing the educational process at a university showed the importance of developing critical thinking among graduates receiving vocational education, so the article examined the meaning of the concept of “critical thinking.” The purpose of this article is to present the development of such methodological material that will contribute to the formation of this type of thinking, as well as motivation to study Russian as a foreign language. Studying the concepts of critical thinking and visualization, how these terms are presented in the scientific works of various authors, made it possible to systematize their meaning in order to create visual materials used in practical classes. The article discusses the importance of visualizing grammatical material for the development of critical thinking in the process of studying the discipline “Russian as a Foreign Language”. To improve the quality of the results of studying the Russian language when considering its grammatical structure, it is proposed to use supporting logical-communicative schemes in practical classes, which contribute not only to the formation of critical thinking, but also develop the communication skills of foreign students. The proposed scheme options can become the basis for teachers to create their own developments for lessons in which the grammar of not only the Russian language, but also other foreign languages is studied.

Burmakova E.A. Direct tactics and their linguistic means to discredit the Biden administration (based on “Tucker Carlson Tonight”) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 4 (228). P. 84-91

Various communication strategies and tactics are implemented in modern political media to conduct information warfare. Moreover, they are used to govern the public opinion. A discrediting strategy and its tactics is one of the most frequently used strategy in political media. The article focuses on two direct tactics implementing a discrediting strategy: the tactics of negative forecasting, the tactics of deceived expectations. The purpose of the article is to investigate the means of performing the tactics of negative forecasting and the tactics of deceived expectations, which discredit the D. Biden administration directly. The corpus drawn upon is 229 scripts of “Tucker Carlson Tonight”, 743 pages in total. The empirical material of the study is 554 contexts, where both the tactics are performed. To analyze the material, we used a descriptive and comparative method along with contextual analysis techniques, as well as definition, semantic, lexical-stylistic and quantitative analysis. Most of the empirical data comprises contexts that implement the tactics of negative forecasting. In addition, there are some cases when both the tactics perform simultaneously. A set of linguistic means is used to implement the tactics of negative forecasting and of deceived expectations. These means include morphological, syntactic, lexical, and stylistic ones. To perform the tactics of negative forecasting and deceived expectations, the common language tools are: modal verbs can (could), may (might), will (would), the zero conditional and the first conditional, idioms, metaphors and epithets. The Future simple is used to perform the tactics of negative forecasting, whereas the tactics of deceived expectations is implemented by the Past simple. The peculiar stylistic means for the tactics of negative forecasting are euphemism, dysphemism, litote, extenuation. Stylistic contrast is common for the tactics of deceived expectations. The Biden administration is discredited by the tactics of negative forecasting more often than by the tactics of deceived expectations. The discrediting effect is maximized when these tactics are used simultaneously.

Shpilman M.V. The verbal mask in terms of communicative mimicry // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 4 (228). P. 119-126

The article examines communicative mimicry. Different opinions as to its nature are compared; differences in researchers’ approaches to it are defined, on which basis the author concludes that communicative mimicry can be seen both in a narrow and in a broad way. In the first case we speak only about the unconscious adaptation, adjustment to the interlocutor’s verbal behavior without any prejudice to one’s own verbal identity, while in the second case such mimicry is a conscious communicative strategy, a verbal mask, the goal of which is to influence the interlocutor by means of manipulation. The basis of the speech mask as communication strategy is the need to adapt to the interlocutor depending on the specific situation of communication. The author notes that in the linguistic sense, mimicry – is a process of adaptation and ability to adapt. At the same time people have varying degrees of ability to adapt, which depends not only on the level of communicative competence, but also on the purpose of communication, as well as the identity of the interlocutor. The analysis of the linguistic material leads us to the conclusion on two views of the communicative mimicry: the authors recognize that the ability to adapt is important and necessary, on the other hand they fear that someone else’s imitation washes away one’s own uniqueness and personality’s individuality. Comprehending the phenomenon of communicative mimicry, writers define such goals as 1) a desire to please, 2) a necessary condition for corporate communication, 3) for an effective manipulative influence.

In the process of formation of the modern system of Russian education, one of the most urgent problems is the problem of staffing complex structural changes in this sphere of society. In a multicultural context and the modern educational paradigm, the most important issue is the preparation of a school teacher. The article systematizes scientific knowledge about modern educational outcomes (hard-skills, soft-skills, self-skills), provides a rationale for the concepts of over-subject and personal skills. Separate innovative ideas in the field of organization of the educational process in modern universities are systematized: –skills), in the vertical plane – subject-specialized and professional skills (hard-skills); V-model of higher education, aimed at creating conditions for the formation of creative specialists with the skills of continuous self-development (self-skills); 2) elements of methods for the formation of soft-skills among students, including those related to various methods of motivation, organization of the communication process, the use of specialized teaching aids, emotional intelligence skills, etc. a process aimed at developing various educational outcomes for students (hard-skills, soft-skills, self-skills), etc. Based on the experience of Tomsk State Pedagogical University, the article proposes a substantiation of the process of forming the professional and personal skills of students of a pedagogical university by means of a reflexive-activity approach as a theoretical basis for designing mechanisms that ensure the development (self-development) of the potential of a subject capable of self-determination. It seems logical to develop the personal skills of students in terms of their striving for the emergence of the determination of their own position in any problem situation.

Matskevich N.A., Shchitova O.G. Xenogenicity in Russian architectural and design terminology // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 4 (228). P. 43-51

The need of society to train the qualified specialists in the field of architectural environment design serves to form thisThe need of society to train the qualified specialists in the field of architectural environment design serves to form this sphere as a professional one in 21st century. The emergence of the latest technologies and materials leads to the fact that many naming units of this field are borrowed with the culture-bound term and experience of foreign designers. The relevance of the work is the need of studying the foreign language terminology due to the professionals’ necessity to unify it. The purpose of this work is to describe the phenomenon of xenogenicity in the terminology of “Design of architectural environment”. Xenogenicity refers to the presence of a language unit of formal and/or semantic correlation with the equivalent of a foreign language. The material for the study was the foreign-language namings of the field “Design of architectural environment”, selected from such sources as terminological and encyclopedic dictionaries, educational and scientific literature, and professional Internet resources. The methodological basis of the article is the general scientific and linguistic means of descriptive and lexicographic methods. The scientific novelty of the work is due to the fact that terminological units of foreign language origin that are not recorded in lexicographic sources have been identified and analyzed, current materials of professional Internet discourse have been introduced into scholarly discourse. In the course of the study, there were analyzed architectural and design terms containing foreign-language components located at different language levels: phonetic-graphic, morphemic, lexical, syntactic. Terms with foreign language elements of the phonetic-graphic and lexical levels of the language demonstrate full explicit xenogenicity. The phonetic-graphic level of xenogenicity is represented by foreign-language inclusions, lexical borrowings represent xenogenicity at the lexical level. At the morphemic level incomplete xenogenicity is demonstrated in borrowings with partial morphemic substitution and in hybrids (words consisting of the elements of different origin) as well as in derivatives formed on the basis of the foreign-language units. Implicit xenogenicity is found in non-original architectural and design terms, which appeared as a result of loan translations at the lexical level and phraseological calques at the syntactic level. Complex (explicit-implicit) xenogenicity is characteristic of word-formation and phraseological half-calques, respectively, at the lexical and syntactic levels. Dictionary entries of professional terms for sphere “Architectural environment design” are given as exemplification of the various types of xenogenicity. It is found out that the lexical units of architectural and design terminology have xenogenicity of different degrees: full and incomplete explicit xenogenicity as well as implicit and combined explicit and implicit xenogenicity. The largest number of lexical units express xenogenicity explicitly. The practical significance of the article lies in the possibility of using its materials in lexicographic practice.

Poleva E.A. (Neo)mythologization of the image of the house-hotel in Lena Eltang’s novel “Stone Maples” // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 6 (236). P. 133-142

The article contains the results of the study of the semantics of the central spatial image of the house-hotel in Lena Eltang’s novel “Stone Maples” and the manifestation of the poetics of neomodernism in the methods of mythologization of the image of the house. The house-hotel “Stone Maples” is not only the space of the plot action, but also a “character” of the diaries/book of the central heroine, an image-myth in her consciousness. “Maples” are the place of death of Sasha’s parents, they connect the semantics of life and death not as in an idyll (natural change of generations), but in accordance with archaic ideas about death as a stage of the life cycle. This mythological semantics is manifested through different semiotic codes – vegetative and creative: burial in the ground and digging up of the herbal diary is likened to the death and resurrection of grain, birth. In addition, the image of the “Stone Maples” supports a complex of allusions to a fairy tale, is associated with an enchanted kingdom, a place to test the abilities of a potential groom to rescue a bride from trouble, to resurrect her from sleep-death. Finally, the story of the appearance of this home in the Sonli family is important. The house was bought with money bequeathed to Sasha’s mother by a secret selfless lover and received after his death, but it was turned into a hotel, combining the functions of a family estate and an inn. Through the image of a house-hotel, Eltang builds a personal myth about the world and man in it. This myth emphasizes the “absoluteness”, the ideality of the House, but it is an accidental gift and a temporary earthly refuge for man. The house does not guarantee the stability of existence. But it is the awareness of oneself as a “guest”, “innkeeper” that contributes to the emergence and implementation of a creative intention aimed at countering the disintegration of matter, the destruction of connections. Mythologism in the novel is combined with psychologism, archaic semantics in the poetics of the novel’s space is connected with the author’s myth about the ‘house-hotel’.

Isaeva O.V. The content of the concept of “creativity” and the means of its verbalization in N. A. Zabolotsky’s lyrics of different years // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 4 (234). P. 68-74

N. A. Zabolotsky’s worldview remains insufficiently studied. Among the key concepts of interest for the study of the author’s idiosyncrasy, the concept of “creativity” can be distinguished. An important part in the analysis of the poet’s conceptual sphere is the identification of the lexical structure, content and representation of the concept of “creativity” in the poet’s lyrics of different years. The goal of the work is to identify the features of the structure and ways of representing the concept of “creativity” in N. A. Zabolotsky’s lyrics in different periods of the poet’s work. The research uses the continuous sampling method, conceptual analysis, biographical, comparative, contextual, semantic and stylistic. The article presents the results of a study of N. A. Zabolotsky’s poems from 1926 to 1958, which used the direct nominee of the concept “creativity” and associatively and semantically related lexemes. Using the methodology of modeling intertextual associative-semantic parts allowed us to identify the features of the content of the concept of “creativity” and its lexical embodiment in the communicative and activity aspect. The study was conducted in line with the communicative style. As a result of the analysis of N. A. Zabolotsky’s poems from different years, the features of the content and lexical embodiment of one of the key concepts of the poet’s lyrics – “creativity” in the dynamics of the author’s poetic activity were determined. The nominee of the concept is rarely represented in the author’s poetic texts, but is verbalized through multiple textual associations, for example: “singing”, “art”, “music”, “poetry”, etc. In the early period of the poet’s work, the nature of his perception of the surrounding reality is reflected in the content of the concept of “creativity”. In the author’s collections “Urban Columns” and “Mixed Columns” N. A. Zabolotsky, depicting the “inverted” and absurd world of the NEP era, creates a specific version of the understanding of the concept of “creativity”, which differs from the interpretation of the concept in late lyrics. The later lyrical works of N. A. Zabolotsky reflect a more familiar understanding of the concept of “creativity” for the reader. His philosophical views was changed. Some events of the poet’s personal life affect the author’s worldview, reflected in the content and means of representation of the concept under consideration. In the late period, Zabolotsky’s creativity is often associated with nature, which is the inspiration, reflection or independent creator of a particular type of art. The analysis of N. A. Zabolotsky’s lyrical works from different years made it possible to identify and formulate the features of the content and lexical embodiment of the concept of “creativity” in poems from 1926 to 1958. The results are important for the study of the evolution of the author’s poetic worldview.

Bolotnov A.V. Review of the Monograph by E. A. Bazhenova, V. I. Shenkman “The Concept of School and Its Discursive Realization”. // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 1 (225). P. 143-146

The dominant role of the school in the life of modern society, its significance for the education and upbringing of the younger generation, the importance of analyzing ideas about the up-to-date school, the need to develop a methodology for conceptualizing the concept of school in the mass consciousness determined the relevance of the monograph by E. A. Bazhenova and V. I. Shenkman. A descriptive method and methods of analysis, synthesis, comparison and generalization were used in the monograph. The scientific novelty of the monograph is due to a comprehensive description of the content of the school concept based on the existing stereotypes of native speakers of the Russian language with use of various sources, including song discourse and Internet discourse. The study by E. A. Bazhenova and V. I. Shenkman was carried out in line with the modern cognitive-discursive paradigm of linguistic knowledge based on the analysis of the school concept at the present stage of its comprehension by Russian native speakers and in the aspect of diachrony. The integrated approach with lexico-semantic, functional, discursive analysis of the lexical representatives of this concept, the use of a comparative analysis of their actual meanings in the context of various discursive practices with the usual semantics of these units based on numerous lexicographic sources, allowed the authors of the monograph to identify and deeply and systematically describe the content of the concept of school. The monograph identifies the main trends in the interpretation of the concept and the dynamics of ideas about the school in the collective consciousness of Russians. The main factors that are associated with these changes were determined in the monograph. The extensive empirical and lexicographic material used in the monograph (52 dictionaries), reliance on modern achievements in linguistics and its methodology determine the reliability and validity of the results obtained in the study. The monograph by E. A. Bazhenova and V. I. Shenkman, due to its relevance, theoretical and practical significance, will be in demand by specialists in cognitive linguistics, discourse studies, functional stylistics, in the university practice of teaching these disciplines, as well as by everyone who is interested in the problems of modern education. The material of the monograph is of interest to teachers, psychologists, and sociologists.

Solomka N.A. The way to distinguish between continuous, hyphenated and separate spelling of geographical names // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 6 (230). P. 77-84

The article deals with the difficulties associated with the spelling of geographical names. The spelling problems of writing toponyms that are available at the present stage of language development are identified, which are associated with a large number of geographical names with different structural organization, and with the influence of extralinguistic factors on the spelling of the toponym. In addition, the difficulties of applying some of the current recommendations on the spelling of toponyms are revealed. The object of the study is the distinction between continuous, hyphenated and separate spelling of toponymic units. The “Rules of Russian spelling and punctuation” recorded in the reference book are analyzed. Complete academic reference book” spelling rules that govern the spelling of a toponym; at the same time, the signs underlying the named rules and the difficulties associated with their application are revealed. Based on the results of the analysis of the linguistic content of spelling rules, an attempt is made to create a procedure for determining the choice of a continuous, hyphenated or separate design of a toponym. The proposed algorithm is based on the algorithmic course “Russian Spelling and Punctuation” by A. B. Selezneva, which is used at Volgograd State University when studying the spelling of the modern Russian language. The algorithm is divided into four parts and has a hierarchical structure, that is, the solution of the spelling task is performed from simple to complex: first of all, it is proposed to determine or exclude features that affect the spelling of a word, which, as a rule, do not cause difficulties, and then move on to identifying more complex criteria. The last stage involves working with units for which there are no clear recommendations, that is, toponyms that do not comply with the current language norms are analyzed. The content of the rules governing the choice of toponym spelling is included in the formulations of the spelling tasks of the algorithm, which involve the identification of formal elements in the structure of a geographical name, the location of the components that make up a linguistic unit, and the presence of certain word-building elements. The relevance of the work is due to the fact that in the presence of unresolved problems of spelling of toponyms associated with the specifics of geographical names and, as a result, with their codification, a clearly structured algorithm for distinguishing between continuous, hyphenated or separate spelling of geographical names is proposed.

Krasnoukhova Y.S. The world-modeling functions of the garden topos in N. Sadur’s play Doctor of the Garden (2011) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 6 (230). P. 152-161

The dramaturgy of N. Sadur belongs to the complex aesthetic system, which researchers classify as various artistic movements (absurdism, avant-gardism, magical realism, and finally, postmodernism). The article examines the play by the modern Russian playwright N. Sadur “Doctor of the Garden” (2011), in which the description of the space of consciousness of the characters comes to the fore. The play, which practically does not fall into the field of view of researchers, is an interesting example of the realization of the artistic possibilities of the category of space. It is indicated that in comparison with early works, the category of space in later plays becomes more significant. The article analyzes the world-modeling possibilities of the garden topos in N. Sadur’s play “Doctor of the Garden”. The article states that the image of the garden in the play is multi-layered and is realized at different levels: cultural-symbolic, real, social, natural-biological, at the level of the characters’ consciousness space. The play is read from two points of view: as a realistic one, with a socio-psychological conflict, and as a neo-modernist one, with a conflict in the consciousness of the characters: they experience an internal conflict associated with the awareness of themselves and each other. Based on the analysis of the spatial structure of the play, it is concluded that the garden, which is both a character, a real space in which the action takes place, and a symbolic cultural topos, is a world-modeling tool for the author.

Dreyfeld O.V. Creative writing assignments based on imitation of speech genres in teaching Russian as a foreign language to medical and biological students // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2025. Issue 1 (237). P. 119-127

The main goal of creative tasks in linguodidactics is productive writing that transforms objects and situations or presents them in a new quality to solve real or imaginary problematic tasks related to verbal communication. The conditions of the creative task simulate a situation that requires the writer to imagine himself as a participant in communication in a certain role, and this can stimulate creative productive activity. Creative tasks that imply the need to create a productive text focused on a certain speech genre are appropriate for the task of teaching students of the medical and biological profile Russian as a foreign language. To set educational tasks on creative imitation of speech genres for foreign students of the medical and biological profile, one can use educational and popular science genres of medical discourse (calendars, booklets, infographics, posters); journalistic genres (publication in a blog or social network in the genre of “notes of a young doctor/scientist”, creation of aphorisms/captions for memes on medical topics, expansion of quotes and creation of comics on medical topics, etc.) and everyday genres (diary, leisure board games on medical topics, etc.). Unlike the genres of medical documentation, which imply a formally organized structure, the above-mentioned genres allow a free combination of genre parameters together with an individual author’s composition of information elements. Using the method of systemic modeling of the logical-semantic and compositional structure of the text, a model of a speech genre was developed, which participated in a sociological and pedagogical experiment, which made it possible to determine the linguodidactic potential of tasks based on creative writing aimed at mastering Russian as a foreign language in the field of educational medical communication. As a result, it was revealed that when performing creative tasks based on creative writing, independent identification of problems occurs in situations requiring the work of search, heuristic thinking. The linguodidactic potential of tasks based on creative imitation of the speech genre is that it develops flexibility and originality of thinking, the ability to generate hypotheses is formed, and the communicative competence of the future professional in the field of medicine develops.

Dmutrieva J.L. Verbalization of the image of the garden as one of the key images of the sacred space (by the material of the works of S. Yesenin) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 6 (230). P. 16-22

In modern linguistics, the study of the features of modeling and objectification of space qualifies as one of the “eternal” topics. In the scientific literature, when defining space, the definitional model “space – category” prevails, however, researchers note the close connection of this phenomenon with the picture of the world of the ethnic group. Space defines the structure and boundaries of the world within the framework of the picture of the world. The parameters of space, according to which it is modeled in the mind of an individual, are set by culture. Among them is the dimension of space. Traditional for Russian linguistic culture is a horizontally oriented spatial model of the world. However, under the influence of Christianity, a vertically oriented spatial model is also formed. The space perceived in the vertical plane is divided into the space of being (or earthly space) and sacred space. In addition, the space is displayed in the human mind by a number of tactile, visual, dynamic and other images. Among them we include the image of the garden, which we refer to the images of sacred space. The purpose of the article is to describe the means of explication of the considered image in the poet’s work. The material of the study was the texts of poems and short poems by S. Yesenin. The corpus of factual material was selected by the method of continuous sampling; the method of contextual analysis and linguoculturological analysis were also used. As a result of the study, individual-author’s features of space modeling in S. Yesenin’s lyrics were revealed, in which the image of a garden occupies a border position between earthly and sacred space. In Russian linguistic culture, the image of a garden is traditionally regarded as one of the locus of the sacred space, correlated with paradise. It was inhabited by divine beings, the righteous and the souls of the dead (verbalized in the texts of the Ryazan poet by the combination Garden of Edem, blue garden). The study of the means of explication of the image of the garden as a key image of the sacred space in the work of S. Yesenin made it possible to identify the syncretism of the perception of space and the world as a whole, to describe the features of Russian linguistic culture, which are displayed and broadcast in the author’s works. The significance of the study lies in the reflection of the author’s modeling of space and understanding of realities and their images through the prism of the category “own or another’s”.

Emer J.A., Andrievskaya S.A. Academic military-educational discourse: towards a description model // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 6 (230). P. 49-57

Тhe article is devoted to the description of the academic military-educational discourse as a speech activity aimed at training officers of the highest command. The academic military-educational discourse, due to the cognitive and communicative focus of the research, is analyzed by the authors based on the model of describing institutional discourse developed by V. I. Karasik. The materials of the study were methodological developments, summaries of classes of the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (VAGSH of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation) from the personal archives of the authors. In the main part of the article, considerable attention is paid to identifying specific features of the academic military-educational discourse, the purpose of which is to acquire new knowledge by officers in the field of operational and strategic levels, as well as training officers of the armed forces of the highest military qualification, specialists in the field of defense and security of the country in the aspect of management practices. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time the academic military-educational discourse is analyzed, its main discourse-forming characteristics are described. The basis of the allocation of academic military educational discourse within the framework of military educational discourse is the classification of military education adopted in Russia: primary, secondary, higher. It is the specificity of the learning process taking place at different levels of education that has caused the need to separate the academic military-educational discourse into a separate version of the military-educational discourse. As a result of the analysis, the authors of the article identified the purpose, strategies, participants of the discourse, described the chronotope, values and genre organization of the academic military educational discourse. Since academic military-educational discourse, like other types of military-educational discourse, is a polysemiotic education, the authors introduce the parameter “communication code” into the model of describing academic military-educational discourse, which emphasizes the essential role of nonverbal communication code for establishing successful communicative clarity between its participants. In the work, according to the presented model, the features of the academic military-educational discourse, the communicative behavior of its participants, as well as key communicative strategies and its genre organization are characterized. The results of the study will be of interest to specialists working in the field of discourse analysis.

Kondrateva I.H. Diagnostics and assessment tools for soft competencies of students // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2025. Issue 2 (238). P. 7-14

The rapidly changing conditions in the labor market require special attention to the training of university graduates. The employer today is interested not only in the professional competencies of graduates, but also in young people with soft competencies. Higher educational institutions become the vector of application of new technologies and transformation of the student training system. A sufficient number of domestic and foreign studies of scientists on the development of soft competencies of students do not always disclose methods for diagnosing and evaluating of them. Formally, the results of training (universal competencies) are spelled out in the programs of working disciplines, but it is not always possible to assess the level of their development in reality. The purpose of the study was justification of the choice of tools for assessing and diagnosing the level of students’ soft competencies in the process of higher education. In the description of the training results of the Basic Professional Educational Program (hereinafter – BPEP), the Curriculum of the Linguistics 45.03.02 direction, the universal competencies of the students are enshrined, allowing the student to adapt to the rapidly changing conditions of the field of professional activity. The described labor functions of the Professional Standard "Specialist in the field of translation" disclose some aspects of professional activity that can be correlated not only with the field of translation studies, but also with any other. The results of a study in the field of linguist training by the teaching staff (hereinafter referred to as TS) of the Higher School of Foreign Languages and Translation studies (hereinafter referred to as Higher School) of Kazan Federal University: participation in the project "Open Model of Education: Formation of Universal Competencies" – KomPas, development of the competence profile of the translator «Soft skills 2030» of the Consortium of Universities (KFU, NRU HSE, ITMO University, Ural Federal University, TSU, Tyumen State University) allowed us to highlight the demanded flexible competencies based on the analysis of labor market requests and expert opinions in this area: goal achievement and self-development, self-presentation and etiquette, effective communication, time management and self-organization, critical and systemic thinking, interpersonal and intercultural interaction/teamwork, leadership, decision-making and responsibility, creativity and motivation, stress management. The participation of TS of Higher School in the above projects required the improvement of the BPEP and the creation of a base of diagnostic tools.

Khamitova A.O. Analysis of insufficient learnability in English language learning // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2025. Issue 2 (238). P. 77-84

The article analyzes the issue of insufficient learnability in foreign language acquisition. Despite substantial research in pedagogy and psychology, a comprehensive understanding of the causes and mechanisms leading to difficulties in mastering a second language remains underdeveloped. Students at higher technical institutions often encounter challenges in learning English, significantly limiting their professional and academic prospects. These difficulties can be attributed to various factors such as cognitive traits, hemispheric interaction, cultural differences, lack of motivation and time, as well as the influence of traditional educational methodologies, which do not always consider individual student needs. Lateralization of language function in adults significantly affects the processes of perception and processing of linguistic information. Changes in the bioelectrical activity of the brain during the learning of foreign languages reflect the division of activity between hemispheres. Cultural barriers, differences in teaching styles, and the perception of social interactions between cultures act as deep aspects that influence successful learning. The lack of a holistic approach to identifying and eliminating the causes of insufficient teachability leads to a decline in education quality, loss of interest in language study, and, consequently, limits students’ professional opportunities. In the context of globalization and the increasing role of English in international profes sional communication, addressing this issue becomes critically important. This study aims to identify key factors affecting insufficient teachability and to develop recommendations for adapting educational programs to enhance students’ success in learning English and strengthen their international competitiveness.

Kolmakova O.A. The motives of the parable of the prodigal son in novels “Number One, or In the Gardens of Other Opportunities” by L. S. Petrushevskaya and “Twins’ House” by A. V. Korolev // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 6 (230). P. 143-151

The evangelical parable about the return of the prodigal son was repeatedly used as the subject of literary contemplation in the Russian classical literature of the 19th and the 20th centuries. The plot of the prodigal son parable is still popular in contemporary Russian literature. For example, the plot was originally interpreted in the novels “Number One, or In the Gardens of Other Opportunities” by L. S. Petrushevskaya and “Twins’ house” by A. V. Korolev. The central conflict “son – father” realized through key evangelical parable motifs of departure, return, forgiveness and love determine the issues raised in these works and their poetics. The analysis of these novels helps to distinguish various types of “dialogue” between contemporary writers and the evangelical text. L. Petrushevskaya inverts the plot of the parable, A. Korolev redefines the evangelical parable in a symbolic way. In general, the plot of the prodigal son parable is comprehended by the contemporary authors as a model for resolving the conflict of the generation gap, as a space for profound sacred meanings, and as a means of expressing the author’s genuine metaphor. The plot variants of the prodigal son parable explicate the meanings realized by the Gospel text on the “profane” and deep levels. Desacralized meaning of the parable can be reduced to the issue of ideal family relationships, which the contemporary writers yearn for and are trying to portray. The deep, Christian understanding of the parable is connected to the idea of the prodigal son’s resurrection understood as a discovery of a “new man” within himself. Number One in Petrushevskaya’s novel becomes the Hero, Valentin Drago of Korolev becomes the Personality. In addition, the evangelical motif of return in the contemporary works represents the authors’ genuine metaphors. The genuine metaphor in the novel of L. Petrushevskaya is the modern person’s acquiring his/her original identity, which is not related to material and hedonistic values. A. Korolev’s genuine metaphor consists in recovering the person’s subjectivity that had been lost because of the processes of standardization in modern society.

Kosareva A.A. Harlequinade grotesque in Anglo-Saxon prose about the picaras // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 6 (236). P. 143-151

The article is devoted to the study of the harlequinade grotesque in works whose main characters are Anglo-Saxon picaras – Roxana from the novel of the same name by Daniel Defoe (“Roxana”, 1724) and Truman Capote’s character Ottilie from “The House of Flowers” (1950). The relevance of the study is due to the recent increased interest of literary scholars in the works of Defoe and Capote, as well as the stable appeal of foreign literary scholars to the interpretation of literary prose through the lens of the aesthetics of commedia dell’arte. For the first time, a comparison is made of the two picaras with their “progenitor” – Columbine from сommedia dell’arte, and parallels are revealed between the plot collisions in the prose of Defoe and Capote with the commedia and harlequinade plots. The typological similarity of Roxana and Ottilie with Columbine, as well as Royal Bonaparte and Roxanne’s husband with Harlequin is established. Allusions to mythological and theatrical plots in “Roxana” are identified, allowing us to talk about references in the text to the tradition of English pantomime, which synthesized mythology and harlequinade. Roxana is like the eternally young and beautiful Aphrodite, and her lovers – the brewer, the jeweler, the prince and the merchant – are endowed with the traits of Dionysus, Hephaestus, Adonis and Hermes, respectively. In “The House of Flowers” there are allusions to the Italian fairy tale “Prunella” and the commedia play by L. Houseman and H. G. Barker “Prunella, or Love in a Dutch Garden” (1906). In Ottilie’s features one can discern the Italian beauty Prunella, who defeated her evil witch mother-in-law, and Columbine with her “flower” name (a columbine is an aquilegia), and the image of Royal Bonaparte refers us to the handsome Bensiabel from “Prunella” and Harlequin. The terrible and the farcical are intertwined in the fate of Ottilie, which, as in the case of Roxanne, allows us to talk about the presence of harlequinade grotesque in the works of Defoe and Capote. The author of the article highlights such functions of this artistic technique as unfolding the metaphor of the world as theater and building a dialogue with the literary and theatrical traditions of the past.

Bal V.Y. N. Gogol’s story “The Overcoat” in the receptive consciousness of the turn of the XX–XXI centuries. Article 2 // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 6 (236). P. 123-132

The role and place of Gogol’s heritage in the literary process at the turn of the 20th–21st centuries are one of the pressing issues in modern Gogol studies. The works of modern authors are introduced into the scientific field, which make it possible to identify the mechanisms of dialogue, appropriation and development of the Gogol tradition. And this determines the research interest in this issue. The purpose of the study is to identify and consider the semantics and function of the image of a little man, genetically dating back to the image of Gogol’s Bashmachkin, and the accompanying plot elements in the works of writers at the turn of the 20th–21st centuries. The novelty of the research is ensured, firstly, by the analysis of artistic material that has not previously been introduced into scientific circulation, and secondly, the semantics and function of the “overcoat text” in the artistic structure of specific works of the literary era of the 20th–21st centuries are revealed. The works of modern authors were used as material: the stories by E. Chizhova “Nyutochkin’s House” (2008) and E. Dolgopiat “The Victim” (2015), M. Bogayev’s play “Bashmachkin” (2003). The selected works belong to different aesthetic and genre forms and the point of convergence between them is their dialogical reinterpretation of the narrative elements of the story’s artistic system based on mystical and religious traditions. The works actualize interest in Gogol’s narrative principles of the novel, built on the harmonious “translation” of the ethical (the value system of religious-teacher culture) into the aesthetic. In E. Chizhova’s story “Nyutochkin’s House” the novella “The overcoat” is understood as a metaphor for the St. Petersburg text. The plot of the protagonist in its semantic two-layeredness, socio-historical and biblical-mythological, appears as an eternal St. Petersburg plot, which is a part of the general mythological semiosphere of the St. Petersburg text. In O. Bogayev’s play, the reception of the fantastic finale of the novel “The overcoat” is rewritten using elements of the poetics of the theater of the absurd and it is focused on the problem of the moral choice of the hero, who assumes the role of the initiator of the Last Judgment. In the story by E. Dolgopyat, the reception of the plot episodes of the story “meeting with a significant person” and “punitive fantastic ending” actualizes and transforms the understanding of the theme of the social world and the social individual, which do not correspond to the ethical ideal.

Tsukanova E.V. Image-scheme “space” as a semantic foundation in term formation (on the russian legal terminology material) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 4 (228). P. 35-42

The specifics of conceptual metaphors of the Russian legal terminology structured with SPACE image-schema is being investigated and analyzed. The aim of the article is to establish spatial configurations (trajectories) involved in the conceptual modeling of the Russian legal metaphorical terms and to identify the structures of spatial image-schemas involved in the conceptualization of the abstract concepts (domains) of the conceptual legal metaphorical terms. Spatial metaphorical projections (cognitive mapping) involved in the metaphoric modeling of Russian legal terminology are established. The specificity of the Russian legal metaphorical terms conceptualization is determined. The most frequently involved spatial structures are: SPACE ARRANGEMENT, MOVEMENT IN SPACE, POSITION IN SPACE. The detected image-schemes structure: path and trajectory (SOURCE – PATH – GOAL), the size of an object with dynamic transformation (SCALE), obstacles when moving in space (RESTRAINT), identity (LOCALIZATION), state (CONTAINER), scale (DISTANCE), awareness (LOCATION in RELATION to OBJECT). The specificity of spatial conceptualization of legal metaphorical terms is revealed through the aspect of content and structure. In terms of the content aspect, legal metaphorical terms describe legal events. Actions in legal discourse are conceptualized metaphorically through movements in space and structured via image schemes. This fact explains the variety of trajectories highlighted in spatial configurations. Abstract concepts of the legal sphere on which spatial configurations are projected are: ASSIGNMENTS/ OBLIGATIONS/POWERS and their LIMITS, INSTITUTIONAL COMMUNICATION, the SUBJECT OF MATERIAL RELATIONS and LAW FULFILLMENT in TIME The investigated configurations of spatial conceptualization with the help of image schemes in metaphorical modeling of the terminology of the legal sphere structure the sphere of law in a diverse way, highlighting different aspects of SPACE within metaphorization. The active structures are path, trajectory, size of the object, dynamics of transformation, obstacles to movement, identity, state, scale, awareness in space, vertical orientation. Spatial image – schemes are involved in the conceptualization of events, objects, processes of the institutional professional discourse of the legal sphere and may be found in all branches of law.

Isaeva O.V. The content and instruments of representation of the concept “love” in Zabolotsky’s lyrics of different years // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 6 (230). P. 103-110

The concept of love is one of the key concepts in N. A. Zabolotsky’s lyrics. Outstanding manifestation of the concept of love researches noticed in the late poet’s lyrics, however, in the early period of creation, in the cycles “City columns” and “Mixed Columns” the concept of “love” is also in the picture but used for the main writer’s idea to show the spiritless and spoiled world of NEP, that’s why it acquires unusual forms of verbalization and peculiar content. The purpose of the article is to identify the features of the content and ways of representing the concept of “love” at the early and late periods of N. A. Zabolotsky’s creativity. The article represents the results of the analysis of N. A. Zabolotsky’s poems of different years, including the concept of “love”. Biographical, semantic-stylistic, contextual, comparative, as well as conceptual methods are used, which allow revealing the features of the content, representation and perception of the concept of “love” in N. A. Zabolotsky’s lyrics by the reader. The analysis of the poems made it possible to identify and formulate the features of the content and structure of the concept of “love” in the lyrics of N. A. Zabolotsky. The difficult period of New Economic Policy had an affect at his creativity: in his first cycles “City Columns” and “Mixed Columns”, author creates an inverted, “turned inside out” world in which love exists only as animal passion and immorality. There is no woman as an object of love in this world, there are only “either sirens, or girls” and “women”. In the later period, due to N. A. Zabolotsky’s passion for philosophical ideas, the concept of “love” was modified both in terms of content and in methods of representation. In the later period, due to N. A. Zabolotsky’s passion for philosophical ideas, the concept of “love” was modified both in terms of content and in methods of representation. A woman and a wife comes to the first level as an object of love, and feeling becomes deep and pure. The analysis of stylistic, linguistic and artistic features of N. A. Zabolotsky’s lyrics of different years allowed us to formulate the peculiarities of the transformation of the concept of “love” relative to the early and late periods of creativity.

Kurilova E.V. Linguistic and communicative explication of emotions in Spanish and English Internet comments devoted to vaccination against COVID-19 // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 4 (234). P. 41-49

Due to the outbreak of a previously unknown coronavirus infection in 2020, people’s communication has largely shifted to an online format. The Internet has become an available space for users to discuss topical issues and express their attitude to the reality around them. Changes in language under the influence of changes in the world and ways of expressing emotions in Internet communication have become of interest to philologists, linguists, specialists in psychology and sociology. The specialists conduct studies in order to make necessary observations on the emotional state of people, to monitor public opinion on such an important phenomenon as vaccination, which is still causing a huge amount of debate. The purpose of this article is to describe the linguistic and communicative explication of negative emotions related to COVID-19 vaccination in Spanish and English. The focus of the study is on verbal and non-verbal means of expressing emotions in Internet comments on the topic of vaccination. The selection of the material with a total of 100 Internet comments (50 comments in English and 50 comments in Spanish) was limited to the period from February to August 2021, when the issue of vaccination was actively covered by all kinds of media outlets, including the Internet, causing lively discussions. The machine sentiment analysis revealed predominantly negative colouring of the texts of Internet comments on the topic under study. Stylistic analysis and interpretative discourse analysis allowed us to identify linguistic and non-linguistic means of expressing negative emotions of English- and Spanish-speaking Internet commentators. The identified means of linguistic and communicative explication of emotions were analysed on the lexical, stylistic, grammatical levels as well as on the level of graphics and images. Among the stylistic means visual metaphor expressed by emoticons and images was identified.
