Among them are the skills of communication and understanding and generation of the texts. It is specified that communication is a text activity. The «text-centered» approach in teaching language is concretized. The skills of text activity are among the main indicators of the general culture of a language personality. Different ways of working with the text at the stage of preparation for the unified state exam in the Russian language and in the process of teaching essay are described. The results of experimental work on teaching essay in high school are presented. Practical recommendations for the analysis of essays are given. It is emphasized that the practice of teaching essays can be an alternative to the system of preparation for part C of the unified state examination in the Russian language, and also to significantly diversify the activity of the teacher-grammarian in developing communicative skills of students. The literary examples are chosen to prepare students for the unified state examination essay and to teach essays. | 2656 | The paper discusses the issue of the development of the English speaking communicative competence at a technical university, which is thought to have become one of the most essential skills of today’s university staff. Due to this, many of the Russian universities are now reconsidering professional requirements to the staff, believing that good knowledge of English could contribute to faster integration of their universities into global scientific community. National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University, Russia, has designed a number of professional training programmes for the English language acquisition tailored to the specific needs of the academics. The paper focuses on the course outline “English for Scientific and Academic Communicative Purposes” aimed to develop foreign language communicative competence for professional communication within academic society at the level B1/B2 (Independent User) of European communicative competences. During the course, which has been primarily created for the staff of a technical university, the major features of the academic style of communication, academic grammar and vocabulary as well as the structure of the presentation and the ways of presenting scientific contents are studied and practised. | 2666 | Ontology is a knowledge about world as a whole. Union of ontology and science put some limitations on ontology, that are caused by need to co-ordinate language of science with language of ontology. Main characteristic features of science are logic and mathematics. Union of ontology and science could be successful only if ontology will have the same features. These requirements meets relative ontology based on a assumption that being is possible only through act of inequality, and non-being – through act of equality. Examining of inequality structure leads us to a need of considering in being act of equality as well. As a result we should refuse of considering problems of Being–Non- Being separately and proceed to united problem of Being–Non-Being. Inequality can be represented by mathematical subtraction. That allows to substantiate ontologically basic mathematical concepts: concepts of set and number. Mathematics become a part of ontology. Inequality is an idea. Equality is a matter. Being is a unity of matter and idea. Change of being can be fulfilled in two ways – material and ideal. Relation between both ways of change gives us three basic kind of being: somatic, anthropological and theological. In somatic being change is realized by means of material way. In anthropological being – both material and ideal ways are equally available. Theological being uses ideal way of change. Development of world proceeds from somatic – through anthropological – to theological one. | 2667 | In the historiography the process of formation and development of Russian national organizations, as well as their participation in the restructuring and the dismantling of the Soviet system is poorly studied. Studies show that during this period they participated in the struggle against the CPSU and leftist movements, providing support for the “right” for liberals and democrats, advocating in their programs the need to abandon the planned economy and the multinational state. The analysis of works of nationwide historiography allows us to conclude that the use of Western Siberia materials and involving them in the context of Russian national research organizations is not enough. The authors studying the problem at the national level used primarily governing body documents and materials on the activities of Russian nationalists in the European part of Russia. Researchers from Western Siberia in relation to 1980's examine the activities of “Memorial” and “Memory” to 1990's, in fragments studied activity of the Russian National Union (ROS), the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), the Russian Public Movement (ROD), the Congress of Russian Communities (KRO) and Russian National Unity (RNE). | 2668 | The article dwells on certain aspects of the correlation between the mind units and language units. Addressing the issues of mind in order to investigate the connection between the language units semantics and mental images makes it possible to single out general, individual and culturally marked components of reality cognition. Different approaches to the term image are under consideration. The reconstruction of the mind images that appear to be the result of differently channeled cognition processes has been attempted at. It is suggested that the mind images create a certain basis as soon as they reflect the results of the reality cognition confined within a culture as well as individual interpretation of the perceptual information. This cognitive basis serves in turn as a foundation for the image of the world, and a motivating ground for the language units semantics. Imagery may be treated as one of the ways of reality conceptualization. Keywords: mind images, perceptual information, cognitive basis, imagery | 1995 | |||||

| 2670 | Introduction. The author investigates the novel “The Demon” by Nikolai Filippovich Pavlov, whose name is little known to a wide range of modern readers. The purpose of the article is to analyze the main motives and images of the story about “the poor official”, which is based on one of the main subjects of Russian literature of the XIX century. Material and methods. The material of the study was the work included in the collection “New stories”, published in 1839. A comprehensive analysis of the text using cultural-historical and comparative-historical methods is undertaken. Results and discussion. The main techniques used by Pavlov to create motives and images are antithesis and contrast. In the system of characters of the story the central place is occupied by the image of St. Petersburg. “The giant of the North”, combining good and evil, appears as an independent character with a contradictory fantastic force that suppresses the will, changes the minds and destinies of people. Such a city is close to Dostoevsky’s Petersburg, who called it “the most fantastic” and “intentional”. The main character is an elderly, poor official, whose image is close to the characters of Dostoevsky (Makar Devushkin) and Gogol (Akaky Akakievich). Marrying a young beauty only increases dissatisfaction with life. The order of St. Anne, which the character dreams of, becomes a symbol of happiness and success. For the sake of this, he goes to a step contrary to morality and common sense-skillfully offers his wife as a lover to his boss. This idea comes to him as a “diabolical obsession” sent by St. Petersburg. A similar development of the storyline “official-wife” occurs in the story of A. P. Chekhov “Anna on the neck”. Similar are the reasons for the marriage of women, the ways chosen by their husbands to improve their situation, as well as the result of family and human relations of characters. Conclusion. In the disclosure of the theme of “the little man” Pavlov was the successor of the traditions of A. S. Pushkin and the predecessor of Gogol, Dostoevsky, Chekhov. The novel “The Demon” was a confirmation of the judgment that the works of writers “not the first magnitude” should not be forgotten. | 2674 | The level of modern fundamental sciences and technologies, based on them, not only require an increase in the general level of natural science education, but also should attract talented young people to these areas of activity. These problems are directly related to the problems of activating cognitive interest and cognitive activity in the learning processes. In pedagogy and psychology, considerable scientific and practical materials have been accumulated on the study of cognitive interest and the formation of cognitive activity among children of junior and high school age, by various psychological and pedagogical means, including the introduction of specialized educational subjects. An important role in solving these problems plays extracurricular work with schoolchildren. In the sixties of the last century, the need to involve scientists into the study processes was recognized and therefore developing new ways to organize the teaching process for the schoolchildren. So the combination of physics and mathematics schools appeared (PhMS). Despite more than a half-century history of the physics and mathematics school existence, the PhMS in the context of activating cognitive interest and cognitive activity is considered for the first time. Illustrated by the example of Tomsk State University Physics and Mathematics School, the structure, directions and methods used in this form of extracurricular work are shown. Such forms as a correspondence physics and mathematics school, an evening physics and mathematics school, a summer full-time physics and mathematics school combining rest and training for schoolchildren, as well as a winter physics and mathematics school are considered. Examples of curricular are given, organizational forms of work for different age groups of schoolchildren are described.
