| 2703 | The article dwells on certain aspects of the correlation between the mind units and language units. Addressing the issues of mind in order to investigate the connection between the language units semantics and mental images makes it possible to single out general, individual and culturally marked components of reality cognition. Different approaches to the term image are under consideration. The reconstruction of the mind images that appear to be the result of differently channeled cognition processes has been attempted at. It is suggested that the mind images create a certain basis as soon as they reflect the results of the reality cognition confined within a culture as well as individual interpretation of the perceptual information. This cognitive basis serves in turn as a foundation for the image of the world, and a motivating ground for the language units semantics. Imagery may be treated as one of the ways of reality conceptualization. Keywords: mind images, perceptual information, cognitive basis, imagery | 2025 | |||||
| 2704 | The article is devoted to one of the key derivations of Russian culture of language – concept “Family”. It provides a complete and coherent analysis of dictionary definitions of the name of this concept. Published in XIX–XXI dictionaries of Russian language are served as a source of practical material. Material of dictionaries allowed to reconsrtuct the usual model of the name of concept “Family”. The article also describes the first observations about the specificity of Russian concept in the background of correlative concepts. The article concluded that the word “family”, having unbranched semantic structure has undergone semantic changes and gradually became a polysemant. Over time it has developed the metaphorical and metonymic meanings. As a term the word came into use in the natural and language sciences. | 2705 | Computer algebra systems are now ubiquitous in all areas of science and engineering. Mathcad is one of the most successeful and widely used mathematical package. The capabilities of the mathematical package Mathcad are used to compute approximate solutions of different kinds of equations from statistical physics and thermodynamics. Solved numerically the equations in which the unknown enters under the integral sign. The presented examples are of independent interest to the students and teachers that use numerical methods. The equation of heat balance is difficult to solve when the specific heat depends on temperature and this dependence is given in the form of a table. Spline interpolation is applied to solve the heat balance equation in such a case. Debay’s theory of heat capacity of crystals well describes the temperature dependence of specific heat capacities of some substances. The Debay’s theory is used to numerically solve the heat balance equation for aluminium and copper. Distribution Fermi–Dirac can be used for calculations if the chemical potential is known. The chemical potential implicitly depends on the concentration and temperature. It is shown how to numerically calculate the chemical potential. Shows how to solve numerically and graphically an equation arising in the derivation of the Wien’s shift law. | 2706 | The article is devoted to the problem of cognitive interest development among senior schoolchildren of nonhumanitarian classes during the English language acquisition at a secondary school. The author draws attention to the fact that the newly formed scientific branches provide the emergence of new professions, change the system of school education and increase the development of cognitive interest among schoolchildren. The main idea of the present article is to demonstrate the necessity of learning English for senior schoolchildren, whose profile subjects are Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Mathematics, as new professions actively come into modern life. Foreign language is considered to be polysubject and can enrich senior schoolchildren of non–humanitarian profile with knowledge on Natural Science and Mathematics and develop their cognitive interest. The interest to a foreign language as a subject, in recent times, is explained by it’s penetrating into different spheres and nonlinguistic professions. Actually, spheres of using a foreign language are extended. According to the “Atlas of new professions”, to 2025–2035 many new professions occur, many of them will need the knowledge of a foreign language. Intersubject relations come into modern school education and really extend the zone of subject knowledge on profile because of the interpenetration of knowledge of different subjects. Integration of a foreign language with Science subjects and Mathematics gives the opportunity for schoolchildren to get new knowledge on profile subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Mathematics and others) and increase the development of cognitive interest among senior schoolchildren. We consider that intersubject integration increases schoolchildren’s motivation to learning foreign languages, develops different kinds of thinking, forms the following abilities – to analyze, to generalize, to synthesize, to compare, make conclusions and others. | 2715 | Introduction. The author investigates the novel “The Demon” by Nikolai Filippovich Pavlov, whose name is little known to a wide range of modern readers. The purpose of the article is to analyze the main motives and images of the story about “the poor official”, which is based on one of the main subjects of Russian literature of the XIX century. Material and methods. The material of the study was the work included in the collection “New stories”, published in 1839. A comprehensive analysis of the text using cultural-historical and comparative-historical methods is undertaken. Results and discussion. The main techniques used by Pavlov to create motives and images are antithesis and contrast. In the system of characters of the story the central place is occupied by the image of St. Petersburg. “The giant of the North”, combining good and evil, appears as an independent character with a contradictory fantastic force that suppresses the will, changes the minds and destinies of people. Such a city is close to Dostoevsky’s Petersburg, who called it “the most fantastic” and “intentional”. The main character is an elderly, poor official, whose image is close to the characters of Dostoevsky (Makar Devushkin) and Gogol (Akaky Akakievich). Marrying a young beauty only increases dissatisfaction with life. The order of St. Anne, which the character dreams of, becomes a symbol of happiness and success. For the sake of this, he goes to a step contrary to morality and common sense-skillfully offers his wife as a lover to his boss. This idea comes to him as a “diabolical obsession” sent by St. Petersburg. A similar development of the storyline “official-wife” occurs in the story of A. P. Chekhov “Anna on the neck”. Similar are the reasons for the marriage of women, the ways chosen by their husbands to improve their situation, as well as the result of family and human relations of characters. Conclusion. In the disclosure of the theme of “the little man” Pavlov was the successor of the traditions of A. S. Pushkin and the predecessor of Gogol, Dostoevsky, Chekhov. The novel “The Demon” was a confirmation of the judgment that the works of writers “not the first magnitude” should not be forgotten. | 2716 | Introduction. The article is devoted to the consideration of ways of implementing language variability, represented at the level of phraseological subsystems of the Russian and Chinese languages. The object of the scientific description is the sphere of linguistic semantics, which receives conceptual understanding in connection with its study in the aspect of intercultural and interlanguage communication. The presence of a semantic invariant in the content of Russian and Chinese phraseological units is determined by the existence of general tendencies of sense formation and the action of universal laws of development of any national language. Semantic variants arise due to the peculiarity of national linguistic cultures as a result of the combined action of a number of extralinguistic and linguistic factors. Aim and objectives. The aim of the study is to study the functional manifestations of the theory of variation at the phraseological level of the Russian and Chinese languages in the aspect of comparative linguocultural interpretation. Material and methods. 54 phraseological units operating in modern Russian and Chinese languages, selected because of a continuous selection from lexicographic sources, were used as units of analysis. The main one is the comparative linguoculturological research method. Results and discussion. The starting point of the study was the thesis that phraseological units have not only linguistic, speech, but also linguocultural and linguocognitive status. In the meaning of most Russian phraseological units there is a pronounced national-cultural component of meaning. Taking this factor into account, general (invariant) and private (variative, characteristic for a particular linguistic culture) semantic components in the semantics of phraseological units that make up correlation semantic pairs (equivalent, non-equivalent, incompletely equivalent) are identified. In equivalent paired phraseological units, the core of semantics is the semantic invariant, nonequivalent ones are dominated by variable semantic attributes, incompletely equivalent are transitional types. Conclusion. Comparative linguistic and cultural studies make a significant contribution to the study of various linguistic concepts, including the theory of language variability, semantic interpretation, translation, on the basis of which it is concluded that they are extremely relevant for the modern scientific paradigm. | 2717 | Introduction. Borrowings from Yiddish language in the American English are considered. This layer of borrowings is of special interest in the English language as the question of systematization of borrowed words from Yiddish and their complex description has not been solved yet. The aim is to describe the structural and functional features of borrowings from the Yiddish language in the American English. Material and methods. The research material is borrowed verbs from the Yiddish language, which belong to the colloquial vocabulary (to kibitz and to schmooze). The research methods are lexicographical and contextual analysis, as well as descriptive and comparative methods. Results and discussion. The borrowed lexemes schmooze and kibitz which are elements of the lexico-semantic field «Verbal communication» have negative connotation in modern English. The analysis of vocabulary definitions and etymology has shown that the meaning of borrowed verbs in English does not coincide with the meaning of the verbs in Yiddish, as in the process of borrowing there was a gradual change in the semantics of borrowed words. The initial meaning of the verbs in Yiddish is connected with information (communication of information). The meanings of the borrowed verbs are based on the common seme «verbal influence» (hidden or obvious). The verb to schmooze has several different meanings: to talk, to manipulate, to influence, to network. The meaning of the verb to kibitz has been divided into several categories: to make ironic comments, to comment, to give intrusive and unrequested advice while watching a game, performance. The shift in the meaning of the verb to schmooze is based on the phonosemantic effect, which is produced by the sound combination schm-. The change in the meaning of the verb to kibitz can be explained by high frequency of use when it appeared in American English. Taking into account the information from academic and slang dictionaries, the exact time of appearance of the lexeme schmooze (1897) and the approximate time for the lexeme kibitz (1910-1927) has been established. Non-conformity with norms of the Yiddish language when the Yiddish borrowings are used by non-Jewish English speakers is the reason of multiple variants of spelling of borrowed words in the English language. Conclusion. The research has focused on the peculiarities of lexicography of borrowed words in academic and slang dictionaries. The results prove that it is necessary to develop an integrated approach to the description of borrowings from the Yiddish language and their description in various dictionaries. | 2718 | Introduction. Teaching Russian in secondary school, speech development and the formation of spelling and punctuation skills is an important task that involves a number of difficulties. Effective study of the Russian language in a secondary school is often hindered by factors such as poor perseverance, lack of interest in the subject, bilingualism, and more. Russian Russian spelling rules algorithmized representation method is considered in this paper, which allows to improve the quality of teaching Russian to middle and senior school students. The purpose is to substantiate the effectiveness of the algorithm method in teaching the Russian language to children of secondary schools, to consider approximate models of training algorithms. Material and methods. Theoretical methods (modeling, analysis, synthesis) were used in the work; empirical methods (observation, comparison, experiment). Results and discussion. Simple memorizing of the rules does not always lead to increased literacy of students. The algorithm method provides for the joint compilation of algorithmic schemes of various types with students, which illustrate the rule being studied, allow you to work out the mechanism of reasoning step by step when performing spelling and punctuation tasks. This approach contributes to the achievement of a high quality of knowledge through the systematic development of practical skills with the help of schemes adapted to the needs of each child. The training algorithm can have different types: from a clearly formulated scheme (similar to a mathematical example) up to a colorful illustration that will be understandable to children with creative abilities. Conclusion. The algorithm method can be applied to study almost any rule of Russian spelling and punctuation. In the scheme created jointly with the students, there should be a place for exceptions and for examples that the child will enter independently. When creating a training scheme, the student is an active co-author. A circuit is never a closed system. It is being refined and improved in the process of practical activity of students. For children from the same class, the schemes can be completely different, as they have been improved and finalized independently. | 2721 | The author interprets the working and realization of program «Bases of psycho-analysis» as rather difficult education-pedagogical problem. In the first place, the author of the article interprets psychoanalysis as cultural text, but not only like as academic discipline. Therefore, with connection with this, he sees the necessity to answer some questions. Their essence comes to the following: what are psychoanalytical studies for modern Russian culture? How it was interpret by mass and professional consciousness? What place Freud’s studies take in general psychological theory? According to psychoanalysis in Russian psychology affirmed ambiguous tradition, when take place acknowledgement of separate empirical facts, but don’t occur search and elaboration of conceptional means, capable display this facts. | 2734 | Ontology is a knowledge about world as a whole. Union of ontology and science put some limitations on ontology, that are caused by need to co-ordinate language of science with language of ontology. Main characteristic features of science are logic and mathematics. Union of ontology and science could be successful only if ontology will have the same features. These requirements meets relative ontology based on a assumption that being is possible only through act of inequality, and non-being – through act of equality. Examining of inequality structure leads us to a need of considering in being act of equality as well. As a result we should refuse of considering problems of Being–Non- Being separately and proceed to united problem of Being–Non-Being. Inequality can be represented by mathematical subtraction. That allows to substantiate ontologically basic mathematical concepts: concepts of set and number. Mathematics become a part of ontology. Inequality is an idea. Equality is a matter. Being is a unity of matter and idea. Change of being can be fulfilled in two ways – material and ideal. Relation between both ways of change gives us three basic kind of being: somatic, anthropological and theological. In somatic being change is realized by means of material way. In anthropological being – both material and ideal ways are equally available. Theological being uses ideal way of change. Development of world proceeds from somatic – through anthropological – to theological one. | 2736 | The article analyzes the semantic complexes connected with the representation of the Vologda region in the novel by L. Ulitskaya “Green tent”. Having studied all mentions of the region in the text the author draws to conclusion that the image of the Vologda region accumulates the traditional understanding of the province as a field of resistance and inertness, preserving underlying national traits and implementing patriarchal-family basis. The Vologda region serves as a place of exile or escape from prospective danger; the personification of family which guarantees safety and transfer the national traits of the character; it is the area of the gradual decay of the countryside world, embodiment of the Russian North in general with its “intact timid nature”. This peripheral area from the chronological point of view is interpreted as the past. Arriving from the center (Moscow) at the Vologda region looks like the descent, decline in not only patriarchal existence, but also in the history of own family. | 2737 | The establishment of an information society led to the massive use of modern gadgets and led to the fact that children have difficulty in direct communication, adaptation, especially in an unfamiliar environment, as well as contributes to the deterioration of children’s health, due to sedentary lifestyles. The leading role in the process of formation of the valuable relation to the world, to himself and to other people belongs to a secondary school. In the modern educational space to solve these problems optimally is possible not separately within the institution, but in the form of networking. Stakeholders create social and educational environment for a more successful social adaptation of the individual student. One of the effective means that children get from tourism and regional studies is the socialization and preservation of health. The authors present the mechanism of leading educational institutions’ networking: Municipal autonomous educational institution of secondary school number 28 in Tomsk and municipal budgetary educational institution of additional education of childhood and youth house “Our harbor” Tomsk. | 2738 | The paper analyzes the system of personages in the first and the most widely known novella of Nina Berberova, as it reflects her idea on a multitude of ways of life building in emigration. The author holds, that the system of personages in the novella is based upon the principle of binary oppositions, namely, creative – uncreative, adapted – misfit, comprehensive – incomprehensive person. The attitude towards creative side determines the choice of the route of life on behalf of a personage. However, Symbolist concept of life as a work of art is reconsidered by Berberova in accordance with her idea of self-determination of Russian émigrés, and so adaptability to changing conditions of life is also held by Berberova in high esteem, in contrast to the common notion of beggar artists. The personages embody different strategies applied to survive their situation in emigration. Giving precedence to the ways of creative persons (Travina and Ber), Berberova gives her critical account of other survival strategies. Cooperation with the Communist regime is shown as materially advantageous, but amoral (Senya); keeping everything as it was in Old Russia is shown as a dead-end (Pavel Fyodorovich, guests of the Travin’s house in Paris). The path of Sonya the Accompanist, devoid of creativity and human understanding, lacking self-determination, full of hatred and envy, is shown as self-destructive. | 2739 | Inroduction. Despite numerous publications on the early reception of F.M. Dostoevsky’s work in Great Britain, the scientific literature covers some important facts for understanding the peculiarities of the phenomenon only partially. Among them are the critical responses of the English writer Arnold Bennett pre-echoing the “Dostoevsky cult” in Great Britain. The aim is to elicit the peculiarities of Dostoevsky’s work reception by Bennett in 1910s and to identify the role of the latter in forming the tendencies of the writer’s legacy apprehension in the English culture. Material and methods. Material of the research includes three Bennett’s articles about Dostoevsky, published in The New Age weekly in 1910–1911. The methods comprise cultural-historical, literal-historical and comparative analysis. Results and discussion. In general, A. Bennett in his interpretation of Dostoevsky’s work follows the line of his predecessors. For example, he regards the form of the author’s works as a drawback; while his younger contemporaries will discover its novelty and meaning-making function in the text. Herewith, he rethinks some aspects of the traditional interpretation and calls The Karamazov Brothers, previously underestimated by the critics, an outstanding work. Bennett is not prepared for the deep understanding of the Dostoevsky’s work, but his interest in the author’s legacy, persistent urge to publish the translations play important role in popularizing his books in Great Britain. As a result, Dostoevsky’s novels become a matter of discussions among the young English writers and become available for the common readers. Conclusion. Bennet’s articles about the Russian author make a representative material in terms of learning the critic’s personal reception and in terms of identifying the typical features of the reception of 1910s. They form preconditions for the development of the so-called “Dostoevsky cult”. Keywords: A. Bennett, F. M. Dostoevsky. M. Baring, G. L. Strachey, V.
