Rakhimova T.A., Zboykova N.A. ACADEMIC MOBILITY AND PROFESSIONAL FOREIGN LANGUAGE COMPETENCE OF TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2015. Issue 10 (163). P. 104-108

The study of modern standards and requirements for higher education institutions in Russia and Germany leads to the idea that learning a foreign language becomes the task of undergraduate or graduate students themselves. The value of academic mobility which to a certain extent is implemented in all higher schools of Russia to achieve the quality of bachelor’s or master’s degree is presently being studied. The introduction of this technique to the educational process requires the appropriate training and support on the part of foreign language teachers. It is necessary to consider both the psychological and communicative training of students. The basis for formation of the professional foreign language competence is formed during the basic training of a foreign language. The next step is the transition from general technical texts to special ones. It is important to complicate the teaching material gradually, use a variety of sources in order to give students the opportunity of finding some familiar elements in each following task. This will help them understand the text and remove the possible psychological and communicative problems.

Koshechko A.N. DIRECTIONS OF EDUCATION OF VALUE STRUCTURE OF DAILY AND EXISTENTIAL CONSCIOUSNESS OF F. M. DOSTOYEVSKY. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 11 (188). P. 194-202

The article presents the analysis of the initial stage of the formation of existential consciousness of Dostoyevsky. The family sphere finds orientation of parents of the writer to values of traditional family and patriarchal model of education. Orientation to traditional values in Dostoyevsky’ family is implemented at the level of the principles of interpersonal interaction (monogamy, possession of many children, respect and esteem for seniors) and priorities in upbringing of children (reliance on education and diligence, schooling to truth, decency, responsibility, love for the country and national culture). The research of the facts of Dostoyevsky’s childhood allows to allocate three interconnected directions of education of the valuable sphere of his daily and existential consciousness: emotional, semantic, religious. United in a single fundamental event by the fate of the writer, they serve as peculiar symptoms of awareness of the existence by Dostoyevsky the child, bound indissolubly to light and a word as in the ways of perceiving being and self-realization of oneself in it. Of particular importance in this process – in addition to family reading and lessons in the Law of God, pilgrimage trips to the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra – is training in boarding schools, the first experience of Dostoevsky’s clash with the outside world, the shock of meeting with his own self, an independent attempt to realize “non-alibi in being” through the acquisition of the ability to speak on its own behalf. During this period reading becomes a way of formation of a semantic resource of his personality, a way of a seclusion and reflection in boarding house. Understanding of himself in life, procedurally mastered in the childhood, forms the the value-semantic sphere of daily and existential consciousness of Dostoyevsky and is implemented in text activity. Experience of own childhood as a moral guideline will become for the writer a criterion of differentiation “before” and “now”, “family” and “casual family” as different spiritual and moral ways of existence. Systematic destruction of the spiritual bases of family, neglect to the performance of parental and filial responsibilities, education of cynicism, indifference, denial leads to loss of sense of existence. Semantic capacity of the image of family and behavioural family tradition are the basis for formation of the image of the world in Dostoyevsky’s “Writer`s diary” and novels of the Great Pentateuch. From the idea of family as a phenomenon of the Russian life a positive program of overcoming spiritual crisis of mankind is built in his works.

The military-administrative and military-historical realionyms of the subject-thematic area «socio-political relations», the group «military-administrative structure of society» are recognized as the exponent of the implementation of these strategies. These realionyms and their trilingual equivalents are compared in terms of the use of domestication and foreignization strategies. The aim of the article is to identify convergent and divergent strategies in translations of military-administrative and military-historical realionyms of the original text in order to assess the quality of translations. The corpus of 28 military-administrative realionyms of «Taras Bulba» (1842) by N. V. Gogol selected from the point of view of belonging to the subject area «Social and political relations», taking into account symptomatic statistics, that is, the frequency of occurrence in the original text. The object of the article is formed by 84 equivalents of the indicated realionyms recorded in the texts of translations, which were made in English by J. Cournos (1952), French by L. Viardot (1853) and Tatar by A. Fayzi (1953). The subject of the article is the strategies of convergence and divergence of the subject content of N.V. Gogol «Taras Bulba». The work used general and particular scientific methods. The methods of logic (analysis, induction, comparison, grouping) and statistics (sampling method, analysis of correspondences) belong to general scientific ones, and the comparative method belongs to private scientific ones. Foreignization increases from the English translation of J. Cournos from 43% of socio-political vocabulary to 93% in the Tatar translation of A. Faizi. L. Viardot foreignized 53% of realionyms in the French text of the translation. 12 out of 84 translation solutions are divergent to the original text, six of them are contained in the English translation. 54 out of 84 units were borrowed by translators using the methods of transliteration and transcription, as well as unreasonable capitalization of realionyms. It can be stated that the quality of the translation was affected by the following translation errors: the omission of the realionym, its replacement, inappropriate modernization (use of anachronism), incorrect capitalization, the presence of «false friends of the translator»; factual errors. The analysis of translation strategies for realionyms from the point of view of the implementation of convergence and divergence strategies can be one of the criteria for the quality of a translator’s work. The choice of a convergent strategy is a basic condition for the implementation of a better translation and, thereby, the reproduction of the original author’s intention by means of the target language, while the choice of the opposite, divergent, strategy is highly likely to distort the realities of the source text, misleading the recipient about the subject content of the original. The expression of the strategies of convergence and divergence at the elementary (microstylistic) level in the translation of realionymic vocabulary is domestication and foreignization.

Sartre’s autobiographical tale The Words (Les Mots) are considered in their relation to representing an authorial ego and to existential experience of an autobiographical character, which undergoes authorial formation by going through various stages of reading and writing. Individual literary evolution is specified by its correlation with literary evolution in general. There studied how the mechanism of writing is paradoxically described in the narrative and the way it performs the summit of a single ego’s fulfillment along with the ego’s estrangement and vanishing into generality at the same time. There also revealed an analogy between forming an autobiographical character’s reading and writing habit and his experiencing the notion of death. Khasanzyanova G.I. TRANSLATION PECULIARITIES OF ECONOMIC TERMS FROM ENGLISH INTO THE TATAR LANGUAGE FROM THE POINT OF THEIR NOMINATIVE STRUCTURE. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2020. Issue 4 (210). P. 38-44

Introduction. The article is devoted to the study of the translation peculiarities of economic terms from English into Tatar language from the point of their nominative structure. Economic terms function productively in English. The problems raised in the work are the specifics of translating economic terms into Tatar, the difficulties of translating them, as well as the analysis of the peculiarities of translating economic terms according to their nominative basis. Difficulties in translating economic terminology are one of the main obstacles to communication in the economic sciences. The relevance of the problem. The international exchange of scientific and technical information has especially grown in the last decade, and the modern language is at a new stage of its development in connection with an increase in the level of information content of culture. Interest in language and its knowledge is constantly growing; the number of scientific and technical publications is growing so fast that it becomes incredibly difficult to process the flow of scientific and technical literature. Translations and abstracts of foreign language literature are handled not only by specialized publishing houses, translation centers, professional translators of research institutes and industrial enterprises, but also by practitioners from various sectors of the national economy. The relevance of the reviewed article is due to the need to describe the terminological units of several languages (English and Tatar) in a comparative aspect. The purpose of the article is to study the structure, semantics and translation of English economic terms into Tatar according to their nominative character. Meterial and methods. The following methods of linguistic analysis were used in the work as an analytical collection and analysis of newspaper literature on the problems and peculiarities of the translation of written language, a comparative method. The study material was the English texts of economic subjects. The terms were singled out by continuous sampling from the text of the newspapers such as Financial Times, The Economist. Conclusion. The results of the study can be used in the development of lecture courses in lexicology, translation theory.

Starodubtsev V.A., Igna O.N., Belskaya E.J. UNIVERSITY CURATORS AND UNIVERSITY TUTORS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2022. Issue 5 (223). P. 148-156

Introduction. One of the goals of youth policy in the Russian Federation is the formation of a system of moral and semantic guidelines that can allow us to resist the ideology of extremism, nationalism, manifestations of xenophobia, discrimination and other negative social phenomena. Under the FSES university graduates are required to be able to navigate the socio-political environment, to have their own worldview, ideals and humanistic values, to have the ability to self-develop. Therefore, the active phase of youth education should be continued today beyond school education – in higher education. This requires the reanimation of the educational potential of universities. The main task of educating students at the university falls on the shoulders of curators of academic groups and tutors. The aim of the article is to compare the educational roles of curators and tutors in higher education. Material and methods. The material of the study was dissertations and articles in pedagogical periodicals devoted to the study of the activities of curators and tutors of universities, as well as the results of the practical organization of the work of a team of curators in a technical university. The study used the method of contextual analysis of publications and the setting of a pedagogical experiment to identify the effectiveness of the educational work of curators of student groups. Results and discussion. This article compares the educational roles of curators and tutors in higher education. It is noted that unlike tutors, the professionogram of curators of academic groups is not legally defined, their official duties are regulated by local acts established by universities independently. Comparing the functional responsibilities of tutors and curators shows the commonality of their educational roles, both categories are mentors of young people, implementing informal transfer of knowledge and social experience, providing assistance in personal and professional development. It is determined that the curator of the academic group is an employee of the educational organization from the teaching staff, who provides tutor support and academic guidance to the student group, organizes the educational and extracurricular activities of students with the aim of adaptation, harmonious development, personal and professional development of each student. It is concluded that the full implementation of the activities of academic groups’ curators requires the creation of an appropriate system of organizational and methodological support for this activity, including psychological and pedagogical training of academic groups’ curators. Conclusion. It is concluded that for the full implementation of the activities of curators of academic groups at a technical university, it is necessary to create an appropriate system of organizational and methodological support for this activity, including the psychological and pedagogical training of curators.

Voloshina T.G., Bogdanova M.D. Nigerian English nativization process. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2025. Issue 3 (239). P. 16-24

The pluricentricity of the English language depends on its contact interaction with other languages and cultures. The purpose of the work is to identify the specifics of the phenomenon of “nativization” on the example of the current state of the English language functioning in Nigeria, through the study of modern mass media, in view of the dialect continuum and multilingualism, based on the dynamic theory of E. Schneider, which postulates a uniform process occurring with a language when it appears in a foreign land. It is established that the Nigerian English tends to the trend of linguistic homogenization. The current state of the studied variant is characterized by the stage of nativization, affecting the phase of endonormative stabilization, in view of written codification of the language, through the publication of Nigerian English Dictionaries and the publication of national literature in Nigerian English. It was revealed that language interference does not occur in a one-dimensional manner, affecting the state of Nigerian English and autochthonous languages. This situation leads to linguistic differentiation when speakers of different ethnic communities adapt English to their own linguistic peculiarities. It is determined that nativization is characteristic of the lexical, syntactic, phonetic levels of Nigerian English functioning in the English-speaking Nigerian media. At the lexical level, high-frequency interchanges of words and expressions occur, both from autochthonous languages into English and vice versa, which leads to situational code-switching among native speakers. Syntactic nativization is characterized by the construction of sentences in Nigerian English in accordance with the syntactic rules of indigenous languages. Phonetic nativization manifests itself in the adaptation of consonants’ system (replacement of consonant sounds with analogues of autochthonous languages) and vocalism’ system (quantitative reduction of vowel). A specific feature of soundpronunciation speech of Nigerian English speakers is observed by using of speech rhythm (or tone), which leads to the syllabic pronunciation of words and the stress shift.

Dovgalenko N.V. TIME AS THE FUNDAMENTAL CATEGORIES OF MODERN ONTOLOGY. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2014. Issue 11 (152). P. 214-219

In the present paper the problem of ontological immersiveness of soul and time which is formulated through the term extension (“procrastination” M. Heidegger) is examined. Making a study of the problem the author runs back to ancient and Christian philosophical thought and then connects them with anthropological spiritual practices of “concern” about past, present and future. Three types of ontological configurations of time are revealed. The first one is connected with the definition “first” and “last” in the rank of plurality or numeric succession. The second is connected with the presence of qualitative hierarchy “beginning” and “end”, course of time, expiration through priority and linkage between future, presence and past. The third is connected with ontological coming and removal from the time source. Spiritual concern appears as a care about real establishment which is able to bring forth and extend horizon of authentic not illusive being.

Balakina A.A. ON THE PROBLEM OF THE FUNCTIONAL-GRAMMATICAL SPECIFICITY OF GERMAN VERBS WITH MODAL SEMANTICS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2014. Issue 10 (151). P. 7-15

The research describes the role of premodal lexical semantics in grammaticalisation and in forming of the functional-semantic specificity of verbs with modal meaning, their cognitive and historical-cultural determination. German modal verbs are sollen, mьssen, wollen, mцgen, kцnnen, dьrfen. These verbs are preterite-present, which means that their present tense has the form of the strong preterite. Modal verbs are the prototypical linguistic means of modality expression, at the same time there are many other verbs with modal semantics in the periphery of the modal field, which have similar functional-semantic features. The so-called modalized verbs can also express possibility, necessity, desirability, habitual actions and various estimates. In contrast to modal verbs, German modalized verbs are used with particle zu (except the verb lassen). It is very interesting to look at the involvement of verbs with modal semantics in grammaticalisation. There are many studies in the field of grammaticalisation (Lehmann, 1982; Heine, 1984; Bybee, 1994; V. A. Plungian, 1997; Maisak, 2005, and others). These works focussed on many important problems of grammaticalisation, and specifically on the possible lexical sources of grammatical items. In the study we regard grammaticalisation as a semantic process (Heine, 1984). We intend to determine the influence of pre-grammatical semantics on the functional-grammatical forming of the verbs with modal meaning. So on the one hand we define grammaticalisation as the process, in which a lexical word or a word cluster loses some or all of its lexical meaning and starts to fulfil a more grammatical function, on the other hand we try to determine the pre-grammatical specificity of form and content. The historical changes in the premodal semantics of the verbs with modal meaning (lassen, brauchen, haben/seinzu, wissen, pflegen) cause their modern functional-grammatical specificity. These verbs express one type of modality and demonstrate the functional monosemanticity.

Meshcheryakova T.V. EPISTEMOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF BIOETHICS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2015. Issue 5 (158). P. 103-109

In the article specifics of medical knowledge are clarified and logical-methodological foundations of individuality problematics in bioethics are proved. The article represents the results of conducting RFH project № 15–03–00598 and RFBR project № 14–06–00440. In the article the problem of logic-methodological foundations of bioethics definition is posed. To solve it the author clarifies specifics of medicinal knowledge. First of all, medicine can be treated both as an art and as a science. The second, medicine has some specific features as any other science. Historian of culture Carlo Ginzburg ranks medicine among the so called “clue” disciplines. Such disciplines address individual cases that may be reconstructured via traces and symptoms only. Thus allows to fulfill integral attitude to patient but do not add to medicine scientific character. The situation changes while bioethical model is strengthening in Western medicine deepening the gap between exclusively individual experience of disease and impersonal-anonymous medical theory. Specifics of medicinal knowledge are based on David Greaves conception. At first, medicinal knowledge contains considerable part of uncertainty elements (diagnostic hypothesis and prognosis are of plausible nature), secondly, medicinal knowledge does not belong to closed restricted circle of professionals, finally, that knowledge is a combination of technological (or objective) and humanitarian (or subjective) components. It is bioethics that pose a problem of dualistic interpretation of “all-purpose” and “existential” medicinal knowledge today as well as issue the challenge to overcome a gap between “two cultures” (medicine as an art and medicine as a science).
