| 2651 | The level of modern fundamental sciences and technologies, based on them, not only require an increase in the general level of natural science education, but also should attract talented young people to these areas of activity. These problems are directly related to the problems of activating cognitive interest and cognitive activity in the learning processes. In pedagogy and psychology, considerable scientific and practical materials have been accumulated on the study of cognitive interest and the formation of cognitive activity among children of junior and high school age, by various psychological and pedagogical means, including the introduction of specialized educational subjects. An important role in solving these problems plays extracurricular work with schoolchildren. In the sixties of the last century, the need to involve scientists into the study processes was recognized and therefore developing new ways to organize the teaching process for the schoolchildren. So the combination of physics and mathematics schools appeared (PhMS). Despite more than a half-century history of the physics and mathematics school existence, the PhMS in the context of activating cognitive interest and cognitive activity is considered for the first time. Illustrated by the example of Tomsk State University Physics and Mathematics School, the structure, directions and methods used in this form of extracurricular work are shown. Such forms as a correspondence physics and mathematics school, an evening physics and mathematics school, a summer full-time physics and mathematics school combining rest and training for schoolchildren, as well as a winter physics and mathematics school are considered. Examples of curricular are given, organizational forms of work for different age groups of schoolchildren are described. It is shown how PhMS can be useful for all schoolchildren but at the same time help to identify gifted students. The efficiency of the PhMS was analyzed based on the results of the Unified State Exam. | 2664 | Computer algebra systems are now ubiquitous in all areas of science and engineering. Mathcad is one of the most successeful and widely used mathematical package. The capabilities of the mathematical package Mathcad are used to compute approximate solutions of different kinds of equations from statistical physics and thermodynamics. Solved numerically the equations in which the unknown enters under the integral sign. The presented examples are of independent interest to the students and teachers that use numerical methods. The equation of heat balance is difficult to solve when the specific heat depends on temperature and this dependence is given in the form of a table. Spline interpolation is applied to solve the heat balance equation in such a case. Debay’s theory of heat capacity of crystals well describes the temperature dependence of specific heat capacities of some substances. The Debay’s theory is used to numerically solve the heat balance equation for aluminium and copper. Distribution Fermi–Dirac can be used for calculations if the chemical potential is known. The chemical potential implicitly depends on the concentration and temperature. It is shown how to numerically calculate the chemical potential. | 2665 | The article deals with topical for up-to-date media communication tertiary texts, named so by the author. These texts are reactions to primary and secondary media texts. According to regulative theory as one of the trends of communicative stylistics of text it analyses the regulative potential of tertiary media texts, including typical and more spread regulative means, regulative structures, means of regulativity and regulative strategies, which determine pragmatics of media communication members; reveales the factors, which influence efficiency of this process. Comments to primary and secondary texts from the site of radio station “Echo of Moscow” to the interview of K. Kosachev in April 2017 are the material of the research. It was determined that there is a dependence of regulative potential of tertiary media texts not only on individual peculiarities of its authors (level of their speech and common culture, specificity of world’s view, psychological and cognitive qualities), but also on such factors as informational area (site, in which the text is placed); subjects of primary media text; informational field of author’s and journalist’s language personalities including their value orientation; genre peculiarity of tertiary media text; media channel of connection owing to which efficient reaction on opinions of other Internet users is realised. It was revealed that value modality of tertiary media texts of comments genre is connected with dominating of emotional and valuation vocabulary including invectives, usage of different means of influence, including tropes, phraseological units, aphorisms. Among the regulative structures means of repetition (with citing of opponent’s statements or a primary text’s author) and a contrast for an opposing your own opinion to others is rather spread. The typical for tertiary media texts means of regulativity are the principles of simultaneity and vectors in the text activity of communicants. According to regulative strategy the most frequent strategy is an explicit strategy of intensifying and convergent type with predominance of the logic of expressing emotions. The results are of great interest for the theory of speech influence, media linguistics, communicative stylistics of text. | 2675 | The epistolary forms which entered a context of “The Moscow magazine” and “The Bulletin of Europe” are considered as an embodiment of the concept of N. M. Karamzin – the publisher, as a reprezentant of his creative method. N. M. Karamzin actively develops poetics of the private, friendly letter in the journalistic and publishing practice, thus the poetics of epistolary publications in Karamzin magazines is conformable to poetics of his private letters. In magazines, also as well as in private letters, estimates and judgments of the publisher, his image itself organize reader’s perception, play a sample role, immerse in the Karamzin sphere of spiritual and intellectual aspirations. The letter as a plot forming element of Karamzin magazines allowed their publisher to come into direct contact with the reader, and “someone else’s” letters became remarks in the dialogue organized by the publisher, a reason for publishing reflections. The letter becomes an ideal form of creation of the addressee – the reader of the magazine as in it the behavioural standard is formed. Certain dynamics of epistolary poetics from “The Moscow magazine” to “the Bulletin of Europe” is noted. The conclusion is that the epistolary is the major esthetic category, it in many respects causes deep internal unity of editions of N. M. Karamzin. Keywords: epistolary form, magazine, N. M. | 2676 | The article is devoted to the research of methods of creation of art space in S.K. Danilov’s story fairy tale. The real space representing a corner under the ladder of the old wooden house is transformed in the character’s imagination into the special fantastic world, in which the fragments of memoirs and unsystematized data on the world around are weaved. Adventures of the character are connected with movement in space, overcoming barriers, that is characteristic of the folklore fairy tale. The character seeks to order the surrounding chaos of the spatial objects which resist ordering: fantastic space is imitative, and its structurization is impossible by the principles of the real world. The space is directly connected with the character creating by means of her imagination of the whole world inhabited by magic beings and having recognizable fantastic topoi (kissel swamps, dairy rivers), realities of the modern world (an old shed, Tverskaya Street). In consciousness of the child they are allocated with fantastic functions. The space of the Country corresponds to archetypical models: the open space is opposed to the closed one. An important role in the spatial model carries out the opposition “top-bottom”. The plot of the magic fairy tale connected with an initiation ceremony receives reconsideration in S. K. Danilov’s fairy tale. Having found the sacral knowledge in a “dark-dark” corner under the ladder connecting different spatial levels, having in parallel experienced imaginary death – initiation in the Ragman’s shed, having received sacral knowledge in an underground cave of kigol, the character breaks a spatial impasse and cheerfully runs up, overcoming the hopelessness of the “lost” place. | 2692 | The article gives an idea of the place of V. P. Astafyev’s small prose in modern school programs on literature and reveals the peculiarities of the problems and poetics of the story “Vasyutka’s Lake”. It is noted that the specific feature of the plot (the survival of a teenager in the taiga) allows us to consider the story in the context of several literary traditions (a magic fairy tale, a Robinsonade, an art autobiography about the childhood, a realistic artisticpsychological prose, a vacation prose). Taking into account the specific nature of the literary material, the authors of the article propose a variant of the methodical organization of educational and research activities in the direction of the interdisciplinary approach to the teaching of literature. Group work with the distribution of roles in the classroom for literary critics, linguists, psychologists, naturalists-geographers and rescuers is offered. The article formulates recommendations for educational research work (tasks for each group and algorithms for their implementation are described). Activity of all groups can be organised within the framework of an after-school course on development of skills of semantic reading. The approach described in the article will ensure the comprehensive development of all types of universal learning activities (subjective, cognitive, communicative, regulatory, personal) and will allow to deepen the idea of methods in which to analyse artistic texts. | 2693 | Introduction. The article analyses English translations of Anton Chekhov’s The Steppe (1888), the first major work of the writer’s mature period. The central spatial landmark in the story is the steppe, whose image is of great importance for translation studies in terms of the dialectics between the national and the universal. Aim. The author aims at studying the multiple representations of the steppe in English translations in two interrelated aspects: as a nationally marked geographical space and as a “mood landscape.” Material and methods. Six English translations of The Steppe at the various stages of reception: by Adeline Kaye (1915), Constance Garnett (1919), Ronald Hingley (1980), Alex Miller (1989), Ronald Wilkes (2001), Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky (2004). The author employs a comparative approach for analysing the recurring meaningful elements (motifs) embedded in the image of the steppe (“prostor”, “dal’”, “toska”, “odinochestvo”). Results and discussion. The main spatial feature of the steppe is its infinity expressed through the motifs of “prostor” and “dal’”, which are peculiar for the perception of the steppe by native Russian speakers. The motif of “prostor” is central for Chekov’s interpretation of the steppe. “Prostor” is something that deprives people of reference points and becomes disproportionate to human aspirations. This concept most clearly manifests an indissoluble connection of the steppe infinity with the national mentality. The analysis of its English translations shows two simultaneous tendencies: while in some cases the translators specify universal components of spatial semantics (“space”, “room”), in others they seek to convey the specific properties of the Russian “prostor” through such equivalents as “spaciousness”, “wide (vast) expanse”, and “vastness.” The Russian “dal’” is mainly translated into English as “distance”. However, there is an obvious difference between “distance” and the original “dal’”: the former is more about length and directed motion, while the latter correlates with the latitude of space. The most frequent translation equivalents of “dal’” are the lexemes with the semantics of boundary (“end”, “horizon”, “limits”). The image of the steppe in Chekhov’s story demonstrates a close connection of the landscape with the characters’ state of mind. The steppe acts as a projection of people’s inner world, with its infinite vastness and endless monotony evoking all-encompassing melancholy and loneliness. These feelings become the key motifs in the image of the steppe as a “mood landscape.” Nationally and culturally determined, the motif of “toska” does not have a universal translation, producing a broad range of equivalents that shape new semantic fields for English-speaking readership. The most foregrounded concepts of grief and suffering (“to grieve”/“grief”, “misery”/“miserable”/“miserably”, “anguish” etc.) are followed by those of longing for something (“longing”, “yearning”/“yearn”), i.e. the translations primarily promote universal emotional associations. In Hingley’s translation, however, the original motif acquires a unique rendition, since the translator explicitly links melancholy with death. Similar transformations can be found in translation of the motif of loneliness. The translators mainly choose equivalents to match the emotional colouring of the original (“lonely”/“loneliness”, “solitary”/“solitariness”, “solitude”). Conclusion. Chekhov’s image of the steppe demonstrates an inextricable link between the Russian national and the writer’s pictures of the world. Since the motifs constructing the image of the steppe are deeply embedded in the national culture, their translatability into other language mentalities is limited. Various equivalents are used to adapt the image of the steppe for other cultural contexts. As a rule, the translators foreground the universal component and reduce the national specificity, adding individual accents in their renditions. At the same time, due to such an obviously inevitable cultural adaptation, the “resonance” principle of constructing the text of the story, implemented by Chekhov through the system of repetitions, was not preserved in the considered translations.
