Korytova A.I., Korytova G.S. LITERARY ABILITY: HISTORY OF STUDY AND STRUCTURAL PHENOMENOLOGICAL FOUNDATION // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 8 (197). P. 196-204

In the article we identify the most important milestones in the history of the study of literary ability. Further, we present the points of view of both international and Russian authors, which reflect scientific approaches to studying phenomenology and structure of literary abilities. Literary ability is defined as a set of special abilities that enable to implement creative literary activities successfully. We show that the literary ability is a complex psychological construct, which covers various sides of a writer’s personality. Biographical, analytical and experimental research of various authors convincingly demonstrated ambiguity, broad variability of components of literary ability and their structural differences. Definite individual structure of literary ability is specific for creative individuality. The structure depends on the availability of components and the degree of their development. Components of literary and creative abilities are a complex mental construct which performs as effect of generalizing intellectual activity. The activity preforms by means of language and is formed during the literary creative activity. The personal characteristics of the subject and individual psychological characteristics of mental processes do not determine the presence or absence of literary ability. The characteristics are the structural components of literary ability.

Koshkarova N.N. FAKE NEWS: CREATIVE DECISION OR FRAUD? // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 2 (191). P. 14-18

The paper is devoted to the description of one of the phenomena of the modern media space, namely fake news. To denote the thing under study a lot of terms are used in different scientific paradigms: fake news, false news, mediamystification, information attack, media-fake. The term “fake news” is considered by the author to be the most appropriate one as it coincides with the genre aspect of the phenomenon under study, it reflects the dominant role of the fake news usage as the leading instrument of information and psychological warfare. The author gives the characteristics of the structural, linguistic, pragmatic and discursive peculiarities of the fake news. It is pointed out that to some extent fake news may be identical to newspaper hoax but the latter is mainly used in the framework of the paper-based mass-media whereas the Internet makes it necessary to create new terms for denoting newly emerged phenomena. The terms “fake news” and “newspaper hoax” also differ in the scale of their consequences: the latter might be quite harmless while the former might provoke cyberterrorism. The author gives some pieces of advice how to distinguish fake news from real messages in the modern mass-media discourse. The set of these rules might be helpful not only for ordinary readers but also for the journalists, i.e. for those who generate news.

Burmistrova S.V. “A faithful disciple of the Apostle Paul...”: on the question of the motives of the spiritual rapprochement of Archimandrite Theodore (A. M. Bukharev) and N. V. Gogol (based on the memoirs of V. Lavrsky) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 3 (233). P. 103-112

The topic “Gogol and Bukharev” has moved into literary studies from the theological sphere. V. A. Voropaev was one of the first to turn to its philological understanding, who included the book by O. Feodor (Bukharev) “Three Letters to Gogol written in 1848” in the context of the problem of perception of “Selected passages from correspondence with friends” in the criticism of the XIX century. It seems that no less significant for modern science is the question of the ideological community of the writer and the theologian, their influence on each other, which left a mark in the activities of each of them. The purpose of the article is to use the material of memoirs and journalistic texts from the last third of the 19th – early 20th centuries to determine the most significant factors that served as a prerequisite for the spiritual rapprochement of Gogol and Bukharev. The research material was published in pre-revolutionary periodicals (“Theological Bulletin”, “Orthodox Interlocutor”, etc.) memoirs, notes, obituaries dedicated to Archimandrite Theodore and containing in one way or another information about his acquaintance with Gogol. The materials are analyzed in an interdisciplinary aspect: the historical and literary method is complemented by methodological tools of receptive aesthetics and biblical theology. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that both Gogol and Archimandrite Theodore (Bukharev) had an interest in the personality and theology of the Apostle Paul. It seems that this circumstance played a decisive role in the ideological and spiritual rapprochement of the writer and the theologian. Beginning in the late 1840s, Bukharev prepared a number of scientific and theological works on the Apostle Paul (“The Teaching of the Ap. St. Paul on the Antichrist in the 2nd Epistle to the Thessalonians”, “Several articles on the Holy Apostle Paul”, “On the authenticity of the Apostolic Epistles”, "On the Epistle of the Apostle Paul to the Philippians”, “On the Epistle to the Romans”, etc.), laid the foundations for the study of the apostolic part of the New Testament in Russian biblical studies. Probably, Archimandrite Theodore became a kind of consultant for Gogol on the interpretation of the letters of the Apostle Paul. Both the writer and the theologian can be called “disciples of the Apostle Paul,” who drew from his epistles a set of theological ideas that largely determined their religious experience, and in relation to Gogol, their aesthetic concept. It is difficult to say unequivocally who influenced whom – the theologian or writer – because there is almost no direct evidence that reports on the specific content and nature of Gogol’s conversations with Father Theodore. Most likely, the influence was mutual and equivalent, since they were united by common ideas, interests and a common mentor in the interpretation and application of Christian teaching in life – St. Paul the Apostle.

Dyachkova E.S. FUNCTIONAL AND SEMANTIC PECULIARITIES OF SEMI-SUFFIXES AND SUFFIXES SYNONYMOUS TO THEM IN MODERN ENGLISH // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 3 (180). P. 33-37

The article dwells on the functional and semantic peculiarities of the so-called semi-suffixational elements and suffixes that have similar meaning. As a result of the comparative analysis of synonymous semi-suffixes and suffixes, the synonymous sets of semi-suffixes correlated with the corresponding sets of suffixes were revealed. It was stated that despite of being functionally and semantically close, possessing common distributional characteristics and sharing to a certain extent the same area of application, these word-building elements can’t be considered as the identical ones. The reason of it is hidden in the specific nature of the meanings of semi-suffixes: the semantics of the latest is not as wide in its denotative part but it shows more variety in its significative part than the semantics of the correlated suffixes. Moreover, suffixes demonstrate a higher degree of generalization of the lexical meaning than semi-suffixes. The author comes to the conclusion about a wider significative meaning of a semi-suffix capable of uniting more semantic characteristics and conceptional relations than the semantics of a suffix; denotative meaning of semi-suffix appeared to be more narrow and limited than the one of a suffix. Thus, significative meaning of semi-suffix contains a greater number of conceptual, semantic features and pragmatic relations.

Kuchina S.A. ELECTRONIC GENERATIVE FICTIONAL TEXTS: LEXICAL, STYLISTIC AND STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 6 (183). P. 49-55

The article deals with the questions of typology and analysis of electronic fiction text program algorithms. The author pays special attention to the description of the algorithmic principles of generating poetic texts, based on strophic organization, poetic size, algorithmic syntax, and matrix of phrases. The electronic algorithmic generators and generative poems on their basis are the first types of electronic fiction. The novelty of the research is seen in the attempt to understand the program algorithms to generate a literary text not only as a method of text creation, but also as a substantive artistic expression, where the code is regarded as a meaning that needs no verbal accompaniment. The electronic literary text is a complex polycode art object which unites text, image, sound, graphics and animation elements with sense-making functions in its structure. The research urgency is caused by the complex analytic model for generative fictional texts of different types (algorithmic and code). The article gives an overview of generative poetic texts, represented by the works by M. Benabou, P. Braffort and J. Z. Piwkowski. The author presents the classification of electronic poetic texts, divides them into two types: permutational (using rearrangement of elements for the new text generated poems) and combinatorics (using syntactical templates and matrix of phrases). The combinatorics electronic generative poems have rigid grammar structure that optimizes the parameters of generated poetic texts. All permutational electronic generative poems are very close to the tradition and theoretical issues of QULIPO restrictions in the sphere of language and art.
