Bolotnova N.S. COMMUNICATIVE STYLISTICS OF TEXT: NOTIONAL EXPLICATION OF POETIC TEXT AND ITS INTERPRETATION // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2020. Issue 4 (210). P. 174-182

Introduction. Text interpretation problem is one of the most topical in up-to-date philology generally and in stylistics of text in particular. In this way the research of readers’ interpretative activity on the basis of experiments is of special interest, because it allows to judge steps of notional text explication in the addressee’s consciousness. The purpose of the article is to identify some patterns that are important for the interpretation activity of the collective addressee (reader) based on the methods of communicative stylistics of the text and its notional explication theory, developed in the context of this trend. Material and methods. Under the methodological base of communicative stylistics of text context and semanticstylistic analysis, a method of associative field of a key word’s modelling and experimental methodology are used in the article. It includes spare associative experiment as well as receptive experiment and modified methods of scaling by Ch. Osgud for detecting power of influence on collective addressee. Results and discussion. The research is done on the basis of experimental data on the reader’s perception of a verse “Light rain is tender, thin and delicate…” by O. E. Mandel’shtam with the use of the semantic explication theory, which is developed in the communicative stylistics of text, that realizes communicative and activity approach to the text. The theory of semantic explication of a text includes its lexical structure research, detecting of text notional paradigms of different types, their correlation, regulative means and structures analysis, textual associative field of a key word analysis versus associative field of this word, which is revealed during a spare associative experiment. Dependence of semantic explication of poetic text on its lexical structure of deductive type and author’s regulative means and structures, atributives as regulative text dominants and contrast as the main regulative method is determined in the article. Connection of interpretative readers activity (informants) with linguistic and extralinguistic aspects of pragmatic text level and its sublevels (figurative, emotional, ideal) is revealed on the basis of experimental methods. Experimental data verified the connection of the pragmatic level of the text with its informative and notional level. The factors that influence the relevant reading activities are identified. These factors are the following: author’s support to standard associations, which are stimulated by a key word, the role of lexical regulation in controlling of cognitive addressee’s of poetic text activity for revealing its deep sense. Conclusion. The introduced approach of researching interpretative readers’ of poetic text activity on the basis of its notional explication showed that the use of experimental methods with informants’ questioning makes it possible to judge about some regularities and steps of text’s and its elements’ influence on forming of common estimation and idea about text content, that readers have: the role of their informational thesaurus, ability to perceive not only deep, but also superficial sense. Dependence of a process of poetic text perception on its peculiarities – common regulative author’s strategy (explicit and implicit) and regulative means and structures and way of regulation – is detected.

Kritskaya N.V. FROM THE HISTORY OF RUSSIAN-ENGLISH LITERAL TRANSLATION (PECULIARITIES OF INTERPRETATION OF I. A. KRYLOV’S FABLES BY W. R. S. RALSTON) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 6 (183). P. 112-116

Key peculiarities of literal prose translations of I. A. Krylov’s fables by well-known English slavist and interpreter W. R. S. Ralston are discussed in the article. The book Krilof and his Fables, first issued in 1869, enjoyed a great success and added a considerable contribution to propaganda of Russian culture in England. Lexical, syntactical, and stylistic features of the English texts, as well as difficult for translation cases of rendering of realities and proper names are studied. An attempt to explain the author’s choice of literal (exact) translation against the background of free Russian-English interpretations of the time is provided from the historical point of view. The article shows, that literal prose translation of Russian verse, however condemned as imperfect by modern translatology, was a successful and necessary step in its time, aimed at introducing a famous Russian writer to English readers. Ralston’s attempt was even more significant considering the traditional attitude of British authors to regard the fable as literary genre not just prone to, but also welcoming free interpretational transformations. Objectively lacking idiom, imagery and humour of the original, prose versions of Ralston, nevertheless, retrieved at least the true idea of the original fables contents and provided the readers with reliable image of Russian life and folklore.

Anufriyeva T.N. Content analysis of the concept of «Soft Skills» // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 2 (226). P. 120-132

In order to clarify the concept of “soft skills” a content analysis of the concept was carried out. It included the analysis of existing definitions in the world scientific literature, as well as definitions similar in content. The research was based on the national and foreign scientific literature, as well as special dictionaries. Their use made it possible to study the interpretation of the concept of “skill” and to systematize the concept of “soft skills” proposed by various authors. Research on the concept “soft skills” begins with an examination of the concept “skill” and its functionality both in the knowledge and skills system and within the competency-based approach. It has been found that in today’s higher education system “skill” is related to complex problem-solving and implies complex performance actions in comparison with its traditional understanding to denote actions that are performed automatically. Moreover, in the terminological field of modern pedagogy, the notion of “soft skills” has become established, which has a rich range of definitions and a list of analogues, which was the subject of the author’s research. The systematization of information obtained as a result of content-analysis of scientific literature in terms of “soft skills” made it possible to clarify the studied concept and scientifically substantiate our own definition. The refined definition is based on the common characteristics included in the concept of “soft skills”, selected according to the principle of maximum frequency of use, as well as taking into account the secondary frequency characteristics identified in the concepts of similar content. The result of this theoretical study can be considered as a model-hierarchy of key characteristics of the concept “soft skills” and a model of the key characteristics of related concepts. The model was based on the principle of common characteristics. Based on the data obtained in the course of the study and based on the expert opinion of researchers, it has been concluded that: the variability of the concept “soft skills” and related concepts (“non-professional competencies”, “non-professional skills”, “21st century skills”, “universal competencies”, “universal competences”, “key competencies”, and “soft competencies”) can be considered as identical and interchangeable. As a result of the work done, the concept of “soft skills” has been clarified. It contributes to a more precise formulation of learning outcomes in the pedagogical experiment on the development of soft skills in the framework of foreign language teaching in the technical university

Skripchenko N.V., Mishankina N.A. THE PRAGMATIC ASPECTS OF SCIENTIFIC DISCOURSE (CONTENT-ANALYTICAL STUDY OF DISSERTATION HEADINGS) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 6 (195). P. 16-23

One of the leading directions of research in contemporary Russian and foreign linguistics is the study of discourse. In this article we are talking about a scientific discourse that differs from other types of discourse and has its clear characteristics, requirements and design. Scientific discourse, according to most researchers, is objectified, but as a sphere of human activity, it can not escape the influence of the author’s personality. The primary stage in the creation of a scientific text is the choice of a theme that reflects the title of the text, i.e. already at this stage a pragmatic aspect may appear. Creating the scientific text, the author puts his subjective view, evaluation on the subject of research, also focuses on the reader who will perceive the text, and therefore the position and opinion of the author of the text, agreeing with it or not agreeing, but provoking a reaction and receiving a response to the text. To test this hypothesis, a content analysis of theses on the specialty “General History (of the corresponding period)” was conducted for the period from 1980 to 2010 and revealed the relationship between the choice of the topic of the dissertation and the socio-political situation.
